Cake Topper

Fi and I are HUGE Phillies fans. Our first date was to a Phillies game back at the Vet and our table name is Veterans Stadium (they're all named after Philadelphia landmarks past and present).

For our cake topper, I've searched high and low and realized that we'll be spending money on something we'll never look at again. Then I came across our "Phil and Phillis" bobblehead. They were the old mascots before the Phanatic and we got a bobblehead years ago at a game.

Our wedding is "Fall in Philadelphia" themed and we thought it would fit perfectly. Plus, it's totally us. I just don't know if our guests would get it or if it seems tacky. They are bobble heads though which are pretty popular. What do you think? It's not the most romantic cake topper but we're considering it. TIA!

I think its cute! I went to a wedding a few years ago where they had a bobblehead cake topper. It was a huge hit, people circled around the cake to take pictures.

I LOVE IT!! Esp since Phillies mean so much to you two and "your story"

If only the FI and I were both Philly sports fans... the downfall of southern boys, they are Braves fans. But I think I'm wearing on him he might come to the dark side! Well at least for Phillies, but doubt I can make him become an Eagles fan, he's a Raven fan. We were at walmart, him in Ravens and me in Eagles, and a kid turns to his mom and went "Mom they don't like the same team!" The mom responded "they must really love each other". I was crying I was laughing so hard!

Cute idea! Just be sure the cake will support it. Those bobbleheads can be a bit heavy. Your baker should be able to figure that out though.

DH and I are both huge Phillies fans as well. In fact, we got engaged at a game!

We didn't do too much sports related things at the wedding. One thing we did do was have personalized rally towels made and gave them out with the escort cards for people to wave as the BP was introduced. It was great walking in to that. Even better was seeing my husbands 12 nieces/nephews standing outside waving them as our limo bus pulled up to the reception! Also, his aunt and cousin are HUGE Yankees fans, so inside of their wedding rally towels, we wrapped a Phillies one as a joke!

The other thing I did was that I had a custom bobblehead made of myself and my husband (they also make custom cake toppers). It was his suprise wedding gift. I had the caterer set it up on the head table and he knew nothing about it. As we were doing our first dance, he glanced at the table and got all excited and started saying "what is that?!!".

Figure it this way. Do you like it? Does it fit the two of you (which it certainly seems to) - then there's no question- DO IT! I love the adding a veil btw! If it's too heavy place it in front of the cake and leave the top plain.

For certain things you have to forget tradition and what other people will think and go with what you and your FI love.

Do it!!! FI is a huge Phillies fan - and the Phillies were a big part of our relationship too. When FI brought me to the world series clinching game in 08, I knew he thought I was the one, since he picked me over all his friends

Our save the dates were baseball themed and I used the pic in my siggy.

its a little pricey, but I'm having them put a Phillies "P" on the grooms t-shirt under the tuxedo. It seems like a lot of money for a cake topper, but FI has every bobblehead given at the phillies game for like the last 4 years, so it will go on display with the other bobbleheads after the wedding.

Thanks girls, this was what I wanted to hear lol. I love the custom toppers but we're sticking with this one.

Dibs, the rally towels look like lots of fun!

Also, we already weighed it and called the cake company, they said "No problem".
