Which dress do you like better on me???

Re: Which dress do you like better on me???

  • Which one do you like better? I think they're both nice, but I prefer #2. The long torso on the first one looks less flattering (IMO)

But what's most important is what you think and how you feel. If you haven't found "the one" yet, keep looking :)
  • Dress 1 is much more flattering for your figure. Dress 2 is pretty, but it makes you look wider than you are.

  • Ditto PP, dress 1 looks great on you!
  • I like the silhouette of Dress 1 much better on you, and I like the sweetheart neckline (which I never thought I would like until I started trying on dresses myself).
  • I prefer #1 on you too.  It is very flattering!
  • I voted for #2, because the look on your face struck me as much happier and more excited. They are both great - can't go wrong with either one.

I think dress #1 flatters your figure big time!! You have a great shape - 2 is a pretty dress but it is not very form fitting. It depends on what you are going for....Both are stunning though :)

  • On you, I prefer #1 hands down -- no comparison.

  • Here's another pic of dress 2
  • It seems like you love dress 2, which looks really nice on you. Pick whichever dress you love the most. You don't want to regret picking the dress you love just because others like another more. At the end of the day, its your wedding and you need to be happy with your dress.

  • My mom bought me dress #2, but I am having major regrets becasue I think it makes me look fat and I had to add straps to it because it was too low cut on the top. I guess doing this poll just made me even more depressed about my dress. Are there any other super depressed brides out there who are having a horrible time planning their wedding??
  • #2 looks great on you and it does not make you look fat. And when you walk down the aisle all done up with hair and makeup and jewelry you will feel so much better about it. The dress is very pretty on you.
  • I voted #1, but seeing the second pic of dress 2, I like that one better. Are you at AA? That looks like the snow white one.
  • #1 definitely.  The shape is more flattering and the material looks much better.  Also just the whole design is much more unique.

I think empire waists in general like on #2 are better suited if you are a few months pregnant.  It's also just kind of boring to me...there's nothing special about it.

  • I like the full-length picture of dress #2 better than the picture you originally posted.  I do not think it makes you look fat!  The dresses are different styles, so they look different on your body, but I think you should go with what you like and what you will be comfortable wearing.  You look gorgeous in both of them.

And I was not pleased with my dress when I first got it.  I didn't enjoy shopping for it, and I got it a size bigger so I could get it faster (time was an issue).  I had wanted something form-fitting, and when the dress came in, it didn't show my shape at all because it was huge even with the corset laced up, A-line (I had initially thought I might like more of a mermaid style, but I didn't find anything I liked in a mermaid), and not me at all.  I was worried that it wouldn't look good once altered to fit me.  Now, it's been taken in, and the seamstress took out a layer of crinoline to make the skirt more flowy, and I really like the dress and am happy with it.
  • I think #1 flatters your body very well, but you look so happy in #2!

  • You do not look fat in that dress! A lot of brides (or I can just talk for myself...) feel self conscious from time to time in their dresses. As women, we're often too hard on ourselves! I think the dress is very pretty... what made you like enought to buy it?

  • Truth be told, I bought my dress before he even proposed! I was just looking online one day and my FMIL and FSIL went and looked the next day while we were shopping. IT was on sale with only one left in my size in TX so they gave me an ultimatum to buy it by that night or it goes on the shelf. I kind of regret it. Although it's the style I've always loved, I worry that my groom won't like it. I'm afraid others might think its too plain. When I go to get it altered, I'm going to see if they can add something to it, embroidery, lace, beading, something, to make it sparkle. Since I got it for so cheap, why not!
  • And what I keep telling myself, it's not about the wedding. It's about the marriage. I am marrying my true love, the only man who ever makes me happy. And what he always tells me when I say "I hope you like it"?
"Yea, I'm sure it will look good lying on the floor."

Just relax and enjoy marrying your love. Just thinking I will be his forever makes me happy :)
    Hope I help!
  • thanks for the encouragement.. i've been crying all day... i'm so sad i just wanna die, i don't know why people are soo mean
  • sklubritt--sounds like you have a good attitude about it!  I just wanted to throw in some suggestions for adding some sparkle to your dress.  You could get a brooch or a sparkly sash, or some awesome jewelry.  I got a cathedral length veil with rhinestone beading around the edge, and it's really snazzy and adds to the look.
  • The first dress probably just looks better because i'm not wearing the crinoline underneath that makes it poof out. They are both A line dresses... Dress one also has a longer torso that makes it more figure flattering. I just thought dress 1 was too plain on the top and it was too expensive at $724. I know it's cheap compared to alot of others. I liked dress 2 because it had sparkle on the top and the bottom of the dress. And i thought it looked more like a princess dress. Dress 2 is ivory and people have been judging me based on that fact. I'm regretting getting the ivory... it has made planning my wedding a nightmare. But my mom liked dress 2 and she got it for me because it was only $400. I wish i could afford to buy dress 1 because i cried when i put it on...
  • Why are they judging you because its ivory? Ivory is more flattering on a lot of people. I know all of the white dresses I tried on looked horrible on me.

  • I don't know...=( I guess because they associate an ivory dress with being impure or a second marriage. I just find it ironic how most of the pregnant brides and brides living with their boyfriends before they are married wear white on their wedding days.. That one comment about dress # 2 making people look pregnant really hurt my feelings... I hope people aren't making rude remarks at my wedding. I have a nasty extended family and my fiances family is very mean as well... But I love my fiance he is my best friend and we have been going out for almost 11 years now. I know he will like whatever i wear but i want to like it too...

Okay, take a deep breath.  Wearing white for a wedding (google Queen Victoria and Phillipa of England) did not originate to signify purity or virginity -- it signifies joy (and, practically, to incorporate some lace Victoria had on hand already)!  With so many unknowledgeable Judgy McJudgersons around you, I'm sure you'd waste your breath if you let them in on those facts/history.

Bottom line, don't sweat what others think.  Wear what makes YOU happy!  Enjoy!
  • With family like that, you can never cover all your bases.  If they're anything like the meanies in my family, they'll always have something to complain about and make snide remarks about, but hopefully they'll keep their remarks out of your earshot.

As casieandlizzie said, so many brides have ivory dresses (me included).  It just looks better on many people than stark white.
