invites- 2 envelopes or not?

Is it not in fashion anymore to have an outer envelope with address/postage on it and an inner envelope enclosing the actual invite? I am all about saving money, but does that look cheap to just use one envelope and have enverything in it? I have heard that not many people use two envelopes anymore.. thoughts?

The last couple invites I recieved did not have 2 envelopes. I really dont think someone would open it and be like hey there is only one envelope. I do not plan having 2 envelopes in mine. I really dont think it matters.

I have not seen this done and will not be doing it myself. 1 envelope for us!

I haven't seen this done in quite a while.  I am using one, and I agree with pp, no one will think it's strange.

We're also going to just use the outer envelope with the postage on it.  Our invite package will be on heavy cardstock pocketfolds with a belly band, which should be sufficient.  Another envelope would be redundant.

I think it's totally up to you.  If you have doubts about how the envelop will arrive (dirty, smudged, torn, etc), you could do a test and send one to yourself.  If it comes back clean, then go with one.  If it comes back wrecked, go with two.

Depending on who you go through, the 2 envelopes are sometimes just included in the pricing. But I agree that the inner envelope isn't really necessary.

I know the inner envelope is a tradition, but it just always seemed like such a waste of paper and postal weight (not to mention paper).  I'm not planning on using one.

We just did one and then got the envelopes hand canceled so they didnt have marks/smudges/wrinkles.

I dont think I have actually ever gotten an invite with 2 envelopes either now that I think about it.

We aren't doing 2 envelopes but our invite and all the inserts will be enclosed in a fancy paper wrap. It looks like a second envelope but I had more options with paper. It looks awesome:)

You could always do the same thing

I think 1 is fine. To me, an envelope is an envelope. It's purpose is to get everything to the intended place in one piece. It's purpose is to take the beating, the smudges, etc and keep the interior items clean and nice. People just rip the envelopes off and throw them away anyway. Why waste the money on 2?
