Does your dog do this? (pointless post)

Re: Does your dog do this? (pointless post)

  • Where are the moderators, as I don't see how a lot of these posts should stay on the boards they're originally posted in, but moved to the "Chit Chat" board.  I come here for Etiquette, Attire, etc., not to read about mindless things. I can go to Facebook for that.

..or you can read your own posts.

Anyway, Lauren, Coby does that but its pillows. He sleeps with us and there are times i'll wake up because he is licking our pillows. After reading some stuff and then talking to our vets, it could be for 2 reasons. 1. (like a pp said) the pillow has our scent on it. Them licking it (or "tasting" it makes the scent stronger. Or 2. as animals that lick themselves clean, they may feel the pillow is "dirty" from your scent and is actually trying to clean it. Who knows LOL He licks brand new clean pillows and old ones.

If you have an etiquette question feel free to ask it.  Who would be around here to answer them if there weren't regulars on the board?  If you want to only read about etiquette I suggest you open up an Emily Post book.

  • Our dog isn't allowed on furniture, but I see her do this semi-regularly (few times/week?).  She will curl up on her bed and start licking her paws, then keep going ... right on over to licking her bed next to her paw. And she will do it for ... I dunno - I haven't timed it but it feels like forever.  She does this on both of her beds, and maybe on the carpet if she's laying on it (though not normally).  We let her do it for short periods of time. Then we tell her to get up, then lay back down again and it seems to "reset" her. hahaha

  • Also, it's not like the title of the thread was misleading or something. You could've just, ya know, NOT OPENED IT. The mods don't care if the posts I make are about sofa licking dogs either, just FYI.

  • I was just genuinely asking the question.
  • No you weren't. You were being a smartass and telling us where our posts belong. Who died and made you post sorter outer?

  • Our dog is CONSTANTLY doing that. She does it in our bed too. I'll get up to go to the shower and she will have been licking her paws up by my pillow and I'll sit down to put on shoes or something and there's a huge wet spot.

We've got a lab...my other dogs have never done this. I dont know if that matters...

We just had a conversation about this on my wedding month board...someone complaining about their local board and all the NWR stuff...then DON'T READ THE POST.

Then they go to comment to a recipe post.  ::shakes head::

  • My dog is a licker.  She's not supposed to be on the sofa, but I've caught her, and there was a big wet lick spot on the seat.  If I don't stop her, she'll lick my feet until they are dripping with saliva.  She's just weird like that (she's been seen several times by the vet who thinks it's just a weird behavior doggy picked up in the shelter before I got her).
  • LC....I will say I'll take a licker over a biter

That cute dog in the siggy...yeah check out what she did (self convicted as there was fuzz in her lips)

yep I came home to that...guess who lost her freedom and is back to being in a kennel during the day 1 year no issues and SURPRISE...

I should add there is no bacon inside the chair Wink

  • I bet LisaChris is going to go call us bitches on Yahoo! Answers now. Nice job, ladies!
  • I tried that bitter apple spray on some of our wood chairs for the dining room table - that my at the time -newly adopted dog was chewing on... she LIKE IT.  I dont' think those sprays work either.. at least not for us.  Luckily she grew out of it and now everytime I look at my dining room set I can be reminded of her.  haha
