All the items we received came from our registry or they were GC's from the stores. Crate & Barrel, Target and BBB.

We registered at Macy's and Pampered Chef.  Only a few things were bought off of our Pampered Chef registry, but most people bought from Macy's.  The problem we had was that we live in Washington state but our wedding was back home in Ohio, so since we were out of state we requested to have our gifts shipped to us.  Most people followed directions and shipped items, while there were a handful who brought some gifts to the wedding.  Also, since the majority of people didn't want to deal with shipping gifts (which Macy's would've done for free but I guess this was too much of a hassle) they just got us gift cards.  We bought the remainder of the things we wanted using the cash gifts and gift cards.  I finally got my Kitchen Aid mixer!

If I were to guess the percentage of gifts that were bought off the registry from guests, I'd say that would be about 30% while we purchased the rest. I found that having a registry was useful in the sense that it gave our guests an idea of the things we wanted, but you'll still have those people who don't purchase off the registry and will just give you gift cards or cash.

Our wedding was out of state too.  Most just assumed to mail them ahead or after or they gave cash/gc.  You could put something on your website that says to please mail gifts instead of bringing them to the wedding as we are traveling.

Any other out of town weddings I've been to, on the store website the registry doesn't give the option to pick up in store.  I think you might run into issues if people are going into the store and just paying at the register like a normal purchase.

<div>Yes, I put this on our website as well as word of mouth.  I'm not sure how it works with other stores, but with Macy's if the item(s) were more than $50 then the item shipped for free, regardless if it was bought online or in the store.  If it was less than $50 I think it cost $8 for a flat rate shipping fee.</div>

We only registered at Crate and Barrel.  It was a small list of about 55-60 items.  I would say we got a little over 1/3 of the items on the list, but we got a good portion of the large items on the list.  We received ALL of our cookware which was amazing. We also received a lot of cash and gift cards (Visa and retail stores). We used the cash and Visa cards to purchase some furniture and kitchen accessories we didn't receive from our registry.  We got about half of the physical gifts in advance shipped to our home and the rest at the wedding.

One of my goals is to educate people that it is best to send ALL gifts to the couple's home so that nobody has to deal with the logistic of transporting gifts.  If I can make shipping wedding gifts a social norm, there has to be a Nobel prize with my name on it. LOL
