"How we're planning to save $12k in one summer."

Really, it is "How we're planning to live like normal folk for the summer."

    No isht.

There's some fuzzy math in there too- $1.50 pp for ground beef?  I can get chicken cheaper than $3/lb if I shop right.

Barbie, I just don't know how to live that way.  I'm sorry.  I just can't stoop to that level of frugality.

For cereal, my parents managed, on the salary of 1 teacher and a SAHM (yeah, big $ for us) to take camping vacations every summer for 4-6 weeks.

I'm not saying my parents = healthy $ views but, a touch of realism here would be nice.

This is kinda like 'quit buying starbucks and save $300 a month"....yeah, care to give $ saving tips for those of us who don't buy starbucks, who already do their own home painting, who scoff at the idea of hiring an arborist (really?  we hired them to treat a blight once and then gave up and chopped down the tree.  ourselves.  with our chainsaw and some rope))

Who paints their home every year? And serves steak at every single family BBQ?

Although I'd put the money towards a vacation. Camping wouldn't be fun for me, but DH and Baby A (when he's older) would probably be into that.

it's a big sacrifice, but we're really focused on savings this year.

I'm also planning to win the powerball in October - otherwise I will have to do Dollar Store Christmas.
