Escort cards

I need help with escort cards.  I am trying to get ready for them.  What are you guys doing for them?  Are you making them yourselves?  Ordering something online then writing in names and tables?  Help!

Thanks ladies!  PS sorry i have been mia for a while!

Re: Escort cards

  • I'm working on this too - we're having plated dinner so each card needs to indicate the entree. I'm googling like crazy to get ideas!

Our invitations have matching cards, but I think I'll first try to go to office and craft places to see if I come across anything that is in the same color theme.  My friend got hers from an office supply store - I think they were sticker stye, she downloaded the template and printed directly on the stickers, then these were applied to the actual card.

One of my magazine pages that I saved had a suggestion to use envelope that fit the card, write the guests name on the outside of the envelope, and the card would go inside with the table number - this way if there is any last minute switch up, you can just pull the table # card out of the envelope & switch it without having to re write/type/calligraph the guests name on the outside of the envelope.

We're having a DW so I'm trying to get as much done in advance as possible since there are some items we'll have to pack and fly over.

  • Ah, I'm doing this right now!

We made our own.  Each table is named after a city we visited together (and the table number has a picture of us in that city).  for the escort cards, we found silhouettes of the skylines of each city and put them on the cards (along with the table number and name).  We'll hand-write in the names once we set the seating chart.

I am trying to figure out how to cut them right now...
  • Ours will be pretty basic and simple and im doing them myself. We are having assigned tables but not seats so ours will have names and table numbers on them with the same design our invites have.

Not doing them...too much work for me...I'm all about keeping it simple yet elegant...

We are doing a seating chart poster. (clicky) I've already made it with the exception of putting the table numbers and names

  • We're not doing escort cards, we're just going to have a chalkboard set up, kinda like Amanda's poster.  I'm hoping I can find an old window (with panes), paint it with chalkboard paint and then paint the seating chart on it, but it just depends on how much time/energy/sanity I have left.

  • I ordered some yellow love birds escort cards from a Knottie. I'm probably going to have a lot left over because she mailed me all she had left (90) and we are only inviting 85. I'm waiting to see who RSVPs yes before doing them, so that way I don't waste any and maybe can sell my extras too. I'm also doing them by party (like the Smith family) to cut down on the number I need to make. For those in the family with the same last name, I'll just say the John Smith Party and the Tom Smith Party.

  • We are only assigning tables not seats and we are using the escort cards that the venue provided us.  I think the calligrapher that we used for our invitations charges .30 cents per escort card so I may use her for that.

  • UGGG I am so behind on that. I may just do something basic with a computer template and print in a "fancy" font..

I am also doing one for the entire family, not one person.

  • My cousin (BM) will probably be handwriting the names and table names in calligraphy for me. I bought her a book to show her how to do it, but she has great handwriting normally so either way works for me. I bought all the supplies for our DIY table. MOH & I will go to the hall the day before the wedding to set it up and I can't wait! It's gonna look gorgeous!
