Alterations

Does anyone have any suggestions to where I could have alterations done for my dress? I'm getting married in NJ but live in Columbus so I will have my dress shipped here for alterations. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!!

I used Monica Gwaltney, she works from home and is fabulous! I am unsure if she was average priced or not, because it can be quite difficult to get pricing info if you aren't having actual meetings with everyone. But, the price seemed reasonable to me. She has these fabulous cups so you don't have to wear a bra (and for me, that's saying a lot).

I'm using Linda Hine. She comes highly recommended on this board and she was also recommended by my wedding planner. I had my first appointment with her last week and she is super nice and very knowledgable and knows what she's doing

Yup. I totes used Monica. She makes you feel like a million bucks and the dress will fit you like a freaking glove by the time she is done with you. I'm not ashamed to say I payed 250 for my alterations, but that's because I had about 9-13 layers of silk organza that needed hemmed and fixed and she charged me 2 hems instead of one. She doesn't add on any other alterations fees if you need additional fittings/fixings if for some reason you lose/gain weight before the wedding. I recommend her to everyone! She's amazing! Let me know if you want her contact info as well as her assistant's.

EDIT: If you are worried about price, unless you have a bazillion layers for your dress, the cost will be significantly less than what I paid for mine. Monica can set up a free consultation appointment, pin you up, tell you what needs done and can figure out how much everything will be and you are under no obligation whatsoever to go with her.

I would love to have her info as well. I bought my dress at Wendy's and at their alteration prices I'll be spending half if not more than what my dress cost!
