Hey girls!

So after being engaged for about a year we are finally ready to start the research/planning process. We are def. doing a destination wedding being that its just better for us.

We are looking to do it in Cancun, Mexico. Any one have tips, ideas, suggestions on where to have the wedding?

I already feel so overwelmed. WHERE DO I START!! WHO DO I TALK TO!! ahhhhhh =]

    Hi ya! and Welcome! I'm a Cancun bride - 10/10/10. I started my search with a TA. She got married in Mexico last year so I was very comfortable with her knowledge. Plus she had personal photos of all the resorts. I'm doing an AI for 3 nights guest stay. - information in bio

    you can also look at tripadvisor.com for resort reviews and guest photos.

    Sorry I can't be any help for Cancun - we're getting married in Jamaica. Just take a few deep breaths --- I remember how very overwhelming it was at first. Picking a destination/resort was the hardest part!

    Hey and welcome! I'm pretty new here too, but FI and I are getting married in Cancun too! We went with the Moon Palace Resort, because we needed a family-friendly resort, and it's AI. We used a travel agent from Beach Bum Vacations and I love her so far! Happy planning! :)

    Hello and welcome!  I'm not getting married in Cancun, but close!  We are getting married in December in the Mayan Riviera at the Grand Riviera Princess.  I'd suggest meeting with a travel agent, specifically someone that specializes in destination weddings, convey your budget, your must have's, and vision, and they will be able to match you to resorts that work.  Once you have picked your location/resort, then all the fun begins!  :)  Happy planning!

    Hi!

    I'm pretty new too!  I've been engaged for a year and a half and getting married in Puerto Vallarta in November.
    We really wanted to do Cancun, even went there to look at hotels.  The problem we found was the price.  Because you want to book in advance you don't get those last minuet deals that I always take advantage of when going on vacation.  We found that PV was the best option as far as the money goes for our guests.  The other thing is that you don't get the amazing sunsets in cancun...but you also don't get the blue water in pv...
    Interview travel agents!!!  I just went with the first girl that seemed helpful but she quickly changed once she got the deposits.  I can't call and ask a question without her making me feel like I'm harassing her.  She didn't book rooms on time so now there sold out, didn't negotiate the rates with the hotel (i had to) and so on and so on.  Also, ask your travel agent if they will price match up to three weeks before you leave (mine didn't).

    where did everyone look for a TA. i hear bad and good about destinationweddings.com. I am not sure about just walking into a place and trying. but is that what i need to do?

    I have been trying to figure out if Moon Place was AI! That is def. something we want. I wouldn't choose a place that wasn't/ Our family and friends are partiers and don't want them spending so much.

    I was engaged for a year before we started any planning although, I'm no help with Mexico since we are getting married in key west.

    The ladies here are so helpful and many are getting married in Mexico as you see above!
