Snarky Brides

What is your daily grind?

Its been rather dead around here...
So, tell me about you...what do you and FI do or a living? kids? pets? hobbies?  I'll start...

I have a small cleaning service and my FI has a small landscape company.  We work together all the time.  We live in a major tourist area and we manage vacation rental homes.  Basically I take care of the cleaning aspect and he does repairs and general maintenance of the homes.  After the wedding we plan to purchase our own investment property to rent out to vacationers.
We really have no desire for kids whatsoever.  At least for now, but I do always say I will probably be the 38 tear old pregnant lady.  I think right now we are so focused on work we cannot even entertain the idea of having a kid.  Oh yeah, also the whole pregnancy thing totally freaks me out so I'm no rush for that all that nonsense.
The 2 pups in my sig are Bella (English Mastiff) and Shottie (German Shepard/Akita mix.)  We have 2 cats as well.  They all love each other, and to us they're our babies!
Ever since FI and I got engaged we have become really active.  I guess a light switch went off, maybe?  We typically work out 4-5 days a week and we love to bike ride and canoe the river.  We keep talking about horseback riding and white water rafting but haven't done it yet, maybe next year.
Now you go...

Re: What is your daily grind?

  • My daily grind is Maxwell House.

My son has a Bull Mastiff.  What is the difference betw the English and the Bull? We have one cat at the mo, H's died in May from cancer :(  I would really like another cat or to have a dog.  I haven't had a dog in several years now.

I work in the medical field and H is self-employed.  We each have one son from our previous marriages.

I went to the Poconos many many years ago.  A company I worked for had headquarters in Easton and when we went on yearly company meetings, we'd end up in the Poconos.
  • I am a full time nursing student as well as babysitting part time. FI works full time installing alternative energy systems. We do not have kids but want kids after our wedding and after I graduate next August. We have a few pets, I have a dog named Lily, she is a pound puppy so we don't really know what type of dog she is. She looks like a mix of many dogs. Lily is 5. Then last year FI got me a jack russell puppy for my birthday, he is a little over a year old and is named Brutus. In addition to the dogs, we have a hampster that is 2, his name is Ninja because no matter how we lock his cage, he finds a way out. I have even taped the cage shut, and he still gets out. We don't really do much other than work and for me- go to school. We like to go to movies, or to the zoo. Sometimes we will go to the lake (like 10 minutes away from us) and just walk around.

I work as a substance abuse prevention educator for nonprofit community agency (Don't worry, I still get my party on!) and FI is the assistant director of recreation, intramurals and fitness at a local college. We bought a house together last fall and it's older and needs some love. Right now we're painstakingly adding a deck big enough to trump the house itself. The thing is a monster and I'm so ready to be done building it. The first beer sitting out on it will be glorious. We bought our house prior to getting engaged, so that was a risk I took (he had the ring for like eight or nine months prior to proposing).

We have an insane chocolate lab named Griswold who just turned one and we live only a few blocks form Seneca Lake in the Finger Lakes/wine region of NY. We're both fairly active. We both run and bike. I just ran my first triathlon two weeks ago.

Our favorite coupley thing to do is travel together. We've gone on one spur of the moment trip to FL and two huge road trips (3300 miles and 7200 miles respectively). We're planning a double road trip honeymoon. One where we fly to Seattle and drive down the west coast for right after the wedding and a second where we drive the whole country in December/January. We don't like to share or wait as tourist, so we do our major traveling during the holidays to avoid crowds.

    Keurig, Donut Shop. Yum.

  • I do marketing for a telecom company. H is an electrician and works mainly in security systems. We have a house and a shih tzu; no kids yet. Right now we are working on the house a lot. Food is probably our favorite thing. We eat out a lot and like to cook interesting things. I have no idea why we have any channel other than the food network.
  • I wait tables at a small restaraunt 2 mornings a week.

H is the manager of the largest nightclub in Boston.

I have an 11 year old pit bull

I like to garden and do crafty stuff around the house for the different seasons and holidays.

My daily grind? Green Mtn Coffee, yes please! :)
My FI is a system admin for a medical research center; currently I'm an administrator for a governance research center. (My true desire is to be a personal trainer and own an athletic facility some day.)
No kids yet. We'll try after we get married next year. We do have three pets. Odin is our English Mastiff, Bruno is our Yorkie, and Ruphus is our orange tabby cat who acts just like a dog :)
I work out a lot and love to do crafty things and he likes video games. FI and I both love to hike, play ultimate Frisbee, and cook.

  • My husband is a lawyer.

    I'm a biochemist/research scientist.

We have a two year old fish named Ichabod.

I read, write, blog, play Scramble with Friends, and Viggle.  Ha.  I also like to run - would love to train for a marathon when I have the time!

My husband and I are trying to move to London.
  • I am in serious flux right now.  I work in the medical field and my contract wasn't renewed so I am looking for a new job.  The good thing about this is that I planned to find a new job in FI's town anyway but planned to find a new job there before I left my old job.   So I get to move there sooner but am stressed about finding something.  He is a professor.  We don't have any pets or kids yet.  We plan on having kids pretty soon after we get married since I am 35... tick tick.  We love to travel and eat out.

  • Hi!

I work in publishing as an editor (but really do no editing, just project/relationship management with my authors).

My H is an accountant, but he uses those skills buying and selling businesses (so, biz development, I guess?)

We have no pets. I keep saying I want a dog, but those are a lot of responsibility.

Re: kids, you can basically apply my same reasoning used above re: pets. I'm sure human babies will come at some point, though.

Hobbies? I love to read, and I'm also a big TV watcher. H loves baseball, so we go to lots of Tigers games. We also live in downtown Detroit, so we enjoy our neighborhood and like going out to eat/drink/etc.

  • My daily grind is a combination of 62.5% BJ's Columbian decaf and 37.5% Whole Foods house brand French Roast. (1 bag of each, but the bags are different sizes)

I'm a former engineer turned high school math teacher; H is in the food service industry (sous chef/cooks on the line sometimes), but he's going back to school fulltime in January, majoring in biochemistry. He's not sure yet what he's going to do with it, but at least he's going back. I have 2 daughters from my first marriage, aged 14 and 11. We have a retired greyhound, age 11, and 2 cats. Hobbies? I quilt, bake (used to do wedding cakes for people, but gave that up), active in church choir, and I'm teaching myself to knit. Daughters are into band, chorus, and horseback riding (older), and violin, chorus, and horseback riding. (younger).

Our favorite is traveling to visit my sister and her family, who live in Switzerland. Not exactly an every year thing, but it's a blast when we go.

  • I'm currently in the market for a job within my degree/desired working field. While searching, I run my own little home business of crafty things and exercise horses / give riding lessons. I've been riding for 15+ years and I swear it's just something that is in my blood.

Hobbies  ... my crafts, reading, riding at any chance, cooking/baking and volunteering.

As far as daily grind, I dont drink coffee, so I'll go with Hot Cocoa.

  • Hi!

I am currently a student and my H is a "lecteur". We are leaving for a year in Paris where he will be teaching and I will be taking some fun classes to further my French skills. He will be teaching English to French university students.

I have one cat Slater who is currently living with my mother since he can't move to France with us.

My H and I love to travel together and can't wait to visit several countries during our stay in Paris.

I do customer service for a direct mail and marketing company (snoozefest) and my FI is a nurse and she is also in the Air Force reserves as a flight nurse. She just finished her Master's yesterday. Yay!
No kids, but we do have 2 pugs and a cat. I love to craft and read and she's very type A so she doesn't 'play' much, but we do love to travel when we get the chance. Would love to live overseas if the AF ever recognizes our relationship. Smile
We have an awesome bunch of friends that we like to hang with. I guess that is our hobby.
