First Fitting

Ok Ladies...Im getting married on 10/20/12, my bridal shop is telling me that my first fitting should be in July, does this sound right?? HELP!!

Sounds about right I guess. I'm getting married in April and had my first fitting at the end of December (just over 4 months out).

I guess it depends. My wedding is in April, and I had my first fitting in November, and if I had been trying to lose more than 5 pounds, I probalby would have made it for January or Feb. My dress is done, and I have lost about 5 pounds since I had it altered, so I'm gonna try it on again in mid-March to make sure it doesn't need any more altering.

If you're trying to lose/gain weight, tone up, change your body shape I'd wait until you're a little closer to your wedding, like end of August/early September to have your first fitting, since you'd be closer to your target size. If not, I would think it's ok to have your first fitting in July. I have also found that some bridal shops (::cough cough:: David's Bridal ::cough cough::) seem to want to alter dresses very early, and make you feel like you're on a time crunch when you're not.

I agree with Duds. My first appointment was mid-February for a mid-April wedding.

I'm also getting married 10/20/12! I haven't scheduled fittings yet, but I think it depends on how much you need done. If your dress needs a lot of alterations, I think it's better to start earlier. If you don't need much, then you can probably push it out a bit.

I only had one fitting, and that was a little less than a month before my wedding. Alterations only took a week, it fit perfectly, and was back hanging in my closet 3 weeks before the wedding. Unless you are needing major work done, I think between 1 & 2 months is plenty of time.

I'm getting married late May and the bridal salon didn't want me to come in for my first fitting until early April.

I'm getting married on the same day! Nice date! My friends mom works in the dress business and told me to come in right after July 4th. She said it was the right time and to follow up for 3 fittings total. 1 each month if you can afford it. She says if not - skip the August fitting. She also says bring in your undergarments and shoes for every fitting you can because it will make a difference in the fit/length.Congrats again on your very cool date.
