    Oh hell yes.

Hey, those Palestinians do bad things!  There have been some who kill people!  And just like any people at war, they celebrate their kills!  They're evil and awful and it's totally okay that Israel threw them out of their homes and has them living like Gypsies (also a travesty, btw).  But, you are totally ignorant for villifying Israel and making the Israelis a "them".  Totally okay with Palestinians, though.

    What a couple of maroons.

They are so totally missing the tree for the woods - or the forest for the trees - or whatever that phrase is.

I really do want to talk about why we even bother to justify religious claims on land, though.  I mean, really, people are saying "the voices in my ancestors' heads said that the land is ours" and that sh*t is taken seriously, for no apparent reason.  Why?!

Oh, Kuus.  My husband would love you - Libertarian and Atheist!   Husband and his BFF were just talking about how too many scifi movies/tv shows have some sort of "god" element and it ruins it for them.
Speaking of which, his BFF has published a Sci-Fi Libertarian novel that you might be interested in.   I'm about 1/4 through the book (it's VERY long) and have been very impressed by the writing and story.   I'll send you a link on FB, if you're interested.

I realize that this ^ was completely unrelated to the Palestine/Isreal issue, but that's how my mind works.

I'm actually not an atheist.  I have a very strong belief in a god, or gods (hard to tell which).  I just don't think guessing what they want, or believing someone who tells you not even firsthand but like billionthhand what they want, is an even remotely good way to make decisions.  In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's a terrible way to make decisions.

You're so right about elements of theism in scifi, though (which is why I loved Caprica so much, because it really openly addressed that without necessitating that there even be an actual god in that universe).  I'd love to read the book.  I think it'd be interesting and refreshing.

The conversation started because we were talking about Battlestar Galactica.   DHBFF watched the entire series but never watched the finale because we told him how awful it was!
We didn't get into Caprica as much.  I can't remember why.

I'm not an atheist either and I have no idea how to define myself anymore.

Caprica was truly great.  It explored the very concept of religion and faith and what it means to be a god in exquisite detail.
