Wedding Woes

We're letting Son play hooky today

His birthday is in a couple weeks and as part of his birthday present, DH took him to a concert in Chicago last night.  It was his first.  They didn't get home until after 1:30am.

They haven't had any father/son alone time for a long time, so I'm glad they went.  DH showed him Wrigley Field and he thought it was pretty cool.

It's 9:24 and he still hasn't come out of his room.  He must have been exhausted.

They went to see their favorite band, Bayside.

Oh OK.  I don't personally know their music, but I know my cousin and his wife are big fans.  I bet they were at that show.

Yeah, not many people I have talked to have heard of Bayside.  DH and I went to see them 3-4 years ago.  We've been fans for a long time, but they either don't come to our area or we're too busy to go see them when they do.

Fun fact:  one of their songs was our first dance at our wedding.

I'm not familiar with the band, but that sounds like a pretty sweet birthday present.

Also, their opening acts tend to be very punk, and DH and I just aren't into that scene, so we feel weird standing among the angsty teens just to see Bayside close the show.

Good stuff.  Every kid should get a present like that.
