How to involve a 12 year old boy into the wedding?

I have a 12 year old boy cousin that I would like to be part of the wedding. I feel like he is too old to be a ring bearer and too young for as a reader at our ceremony. Wondering if anyone else has an idea of what he can in order to involve him in our wedding or if anyone else is in this situation?

  • Why don't you ask him what he wants to do?  He's only too young when he tells you so.
This is a neglected planning bio.
This is a belated married bio, with no reviews yet because I'm lazy.

Sometimes I feel like people think that brides are delicate little flower princesses who get all dressed up and pretty for one special moment of their dreams, when really they're just normal people who just happen to be getting married. Things shouldn't have to be sugar-coated for grown-ass women. -mstar284
  • One of my brothers will be around that age when we have our wedding. He will walk with our baby brother to the alter. Baby brother will then sit with mom most likely and my brother (the older one) will stand with all the groomsmen. He really wanted to be apart of the wedding so I told him he could be a groomsman if he wanted. He was so happy to be so involved.

  • Ask him. Like aerin said, he is only too young if he thinks he is. I think he would be fine as a GM or a RB. Or he could be an usher.
  • I had two boys about 12 and 13 light our candelabras.
  • If you are having a runner, he can pull that for you. That is what my 12 year old godson is going to do at my wedding.
And the whole time, my future husband was in the room...... image image
  • We will be having a 12 year old boy in our wedding party. I have him as a junior GM. We didnt want him to be left out so we gave him the job of helping the ring bearer. Our ring bearer will be 1yr old, so our Junior GM's job will be to help him down the aisle. He is a great kid and was so excited to have this job. It made his day...and how cute are they gonna be in their tux's! I can't wait!
  • I actually have a 15 Yr old as our BM.  He's my FI's only Bro.  He knows his responsibilities and is very excitted.   I'm Thrilled to have him as such a vital role in our wedding.  He's a great young man.

My brother just turned 14, and he will be an usher and also announce us at the reception.
