Spray Tan?

Hi Ladies,

I've never had a spray tan before but am thinking about doing it for my wedding in May.  I'd like to try it out this weekend to see if I like it.

Have you spray tanned before and where do you go?

Thanks!

I've had it done.  I went to LA Tan.  I think everyone wil get a different result.  I will say that spray tan didn't work out so well on me.  Even though they used a bronzing component so I wouldnt turn orange, it still didn't work out well.  I felt I looked orangy.  But, I have had other friends who had it done and they loved it.

If you're talking about airbrush tanning (different than Mystic Tanning), then  I would check out this website put together by a former Knottie:

I plan on going to Asha in the Gold Coast (near my work and I have a gift card) to get it done before my bridal shower next month as a trial run before the wedding.  I'll post a review once I get it done.
    HTH!

It kind of depends on what you're looking for. I went to Ultimate Exposure for spray tan in the past. I would recommend this if you are just going to get some color but not if it's for an important event. For wedding I would definitly recommend airbrush tanning (where someone sprays it on you instead of a machine spray) because then you don't have to worry about spray dotting or streaking.
My first spray tan at Ultimate exposure was good but the second I did get some streaking on my legs, The streaking came off with some scrubbing but it was kind of annoying

I would definitely NOT recommend a spray tan for your wedding. I would however, recommend an airbrush tan. There is a distinction. Spray tan implies going into a booth and having a maching spray you whereas airbrush tanning typically means having a human being spray you. My FAQs site contains a list of rec'd airbrush salons. I would try it out now. Airbrush comes out looking differently on everyone. You definitely want to see how you like it first. And if you do like it, make sure you maintain it correctly to allow for a good looking tan that will last a week.

Thanks ladies!  I think I'll try the airbrush tan...the booth tanning sounds strange :)

How long does it typically last?  A week?

I would say it'll last a week with good maintenance.  Make sure to do a good exfoliation the day before.  Don't scrub very hard in the shower & use lots of moisturizer.  My fav place to get airbrushed is Spacio on Halsted.  I think they offer discounts for 1st time clients.  I also use an at home product for more regular use to save $$.  Let me know if you want more info about that too.

i just had an airbrush tan for my shower (testing it out for May wedding) and was very pleased.  It last about one week and then started to fade.  I went to Salon Blo in Lincoln Park.  Hope that helps!

If you do a spray tan, find someone who uses VersaSpa systems, I've had much greater luck with those than the typical mystic tan ( I know the LA tan in bloomingdale uses versaspa, or you can go to Versaspas website to find them)
THey use a completely different system and it gives a great brown color, and tans from all sides not just front/back.

Otherwise definatley do airbrush, it's pricier but worth it for that day

Some of the Palm Beach Tan locations offer Versa. I absolutely love the color. Infinitely better than MyMyst but more expensive. I still rec airbrush for the wedding day but for everyday use, Versa is the way to go.

I've had a few spray tans.  Truthfully, if you are wearing a white dress, it will fade a bit onto the dress...even the more expensive spray tans.  Good luck!
