THE BRO IS BACK FROM AFGHANISTAN!

My brother touched down on US soil at 4:30am this morning!  He is on his way to his base in California where he will see my mom this afternoon.

Thanks for all of your T&P for him and all of our service men and women!  (Thanks especially to TR & Kelly).

And that right there is what I was looking forward to today.  Now I must concentrate on actual work.

ETA:  this was his second tour with the USMC.  His first was in Iraq.   He is no worse for the wear, physically, but mentally having some issues.  This tour (7 months) was a lot more difficult on the psyche and he hasn't been sleeping well.  Let's hope he gets better soon.

    Thanks, everyone.

AimerDamer - I know he has been talking to the people over there about PTSD.  We'll see how he does over here.  I don't think he's afraid to seek treatment.
  • Glad he's back safe and sound!  Also very happy that he's not afraid to seek treatment for PTSD.

Is he done and out of the military now or is he just home for a while?

What do you mean "lost everything"?  Is she alright?  Where is she?

I heard about one close call with my brother, but don't need to hear about any more.  I basically didn't read the news for the past 7 months.

T&P for your cousin.  It's so hard.  Do you hear from him often?  Tom would call every few weeks (at least) and had Wi-Fi (in a tent in Afghanistan), so I would see his status updates on FB and sometimes chat.

I don't know exactly where she is stationed (her dad is getting mixed up <img src="http://cdn.cl9.vanillaforums.com/downloaded/ver1.0/content/scripts/tinymce/plugins/emotions/images/smiley-undecided.gif" border="0" alt="Undecided" title="Undecided" />)

But apparently where she was the sirens went off there were a few pops -she started running to her tent to get a few things and was told to get to safety....her tent was hit.

laptop melted (all pictures any everything on it is obviously gone), blackberry gone, her $2000 in school books she just got shipped gone, clothes...basically what she had on and her dog tags is what she has...

BUT she said morale is high since no one was injured

I cried the first time I took him a package at the Post Office.  He was also loved and known as the "kid with all of the goodies" basically, since we sent him so much stuff.

Jelenny, I won't see him until December, but that's okay.  As long as my mom is there to greet him when he gets off the bus, he's happy.
