  • A pretty dress is always in fashion Special, but not spikey shoes, they get caught in the dock going onto the boat, speaking from a bad experience here.

    <div>That sounds painful.</div>
  • Okay, so I have to say that I'm totally enjoying my evening now. FI and I are on the porch, he's smoking a cigar (it's good too, I just had a few hits) and reading. I'm TKing and sipping wine, and he has Glen Campbell playing. There's a nice breeze, too.
  • Do a pretty dress, a cardigan and ballet flats.  You'll want flats in case the ship gets rocky :)
  • Would you guys ever go to a superhero costume party at an art museum?

  • I wear flats or low wedges. Me + spiked heels = guaranteed three weeks in an air cast.
  • It's doubtful I would go to a costume party.  I only do half-ass costumes even for Halloween.

[QUOTE]See you soon, Beachy! H just told me we're going on a riverboat dinner cruise for our anniversary. I have no idea what I'm supposed to wear.

    That sounds really awesome.

Also, I love trains. Probably my favorite mode of transport. I just love them. I wish we had an extra room in the house that we could dedicate to model railroads.

Alsotoo, sometimes I wish H made more money than me, just so that we made more money collectively.

And, I'm probably dropping a bomb here that I won't be able to follow up on fully since I'm fading fast, but I feel like the wage discrepancy between men and women exists for a legitimate reason. Because women are much more likely to take extended periods of time off from working (which should carry with it lower pay).
  • FI's an experienced IT guy-I'm not really likely to make more than he does. If I did, I wouldn'thold it over him.
Thanks everyone. i just can't see cluttering up the place with flowers, because the natural setting's so lovely, but at the same time I want something there.

Would you wear coordinating costumes? I really want to go, but H is on the fence. I would like some costume suggestions as well.

ETA: We're both fatties. Spandex is not necessarily something either of us looks good in.

Uh.  Yes!  I may or may not have a Supergirl costume in my closet.

<div>Yes, but not cheesy coordinating.  Like, from the same universe or team.  Like, Zatana and Green Lantern or something.</div>
  • Daff, I agree with you. It's an unpopular opinion in my circle.

<div>Depends on how much I liked the guy asking me to go. </div>
  • Do I have to be a girl superhero, or can I be a cool dude? I don't want to dress like a skank.
  • Of course you could be a boy superhero!

Special, we'd totally go. This link is to a superhero comic called Love and Capes, about a superhero wo's married to a regular woman
http://www.loveandcapes.com/ that could be fun. There'sThe incredibles, Green Arrow is married to Black Canary, so that might be fun.

  • I figure we're too poor for the Art Ball ($400/plate), but we can swing $40 for both of us to attend the Superhero Ball and another $40 for me to booze it up.
  • Heck, do Batman and Robin, or The Flash and Kid Flas, or Green Arrow and Speedy.

I would do coordinating, but I would probably do the hero + one of the villians.  For instance:  Batman/Poison Ivy
    Green Lantern/Star of Sapphire
    Superman/Zorra (sp?)
