Re: It's Tuesday

  • I soooo didn't want to get up this morning. Break can't come fast enough. I've got a group of students now doing a school board mandated online safety program. It has to be finished before the end of the week.

I'm so tired and dragged out this week. I hope that I'm not getting DD's cold; getting the spare room ready for DS is my top priority this week, and I don't have the time to be sick!

  • Morning! I feel like my to do list keeps growing before Christmas... and I'm done shopping!

Last night we made taco casserole and watched the Nightmare Before Christmas to celebrate engage-aversary.

Haha no, he proposed at Disneyland, so we compromised by watching a Disney Christmas movie.
  • Oh I LOVE the first one. It's like a chic, subtle nod.
  • I love the first one!

  • So yesterday I was thinking about all of my friends that have babies, and I'm, like, REALLY weird about oversharing on facebook. I put up a lot of sarcastic comments, but very little of my actual private life is online. I didn't even 'announce' being engaged, people just kind of figured it out.
And when I have a kid (in a few years) I can't even imagine how protective I'm going to be regarding the internet. I have 1000 facebook friends, and I was thinking, this is ridiculous, I don't have 1000 friends. So I am slowly whittling them down, and I'm already to 800 and still going. It's a slow process, but very theraputic.
  • Sawg, I'm the same way. I only have about 250 now- mostly family and college people since it hasn't been long since I graduated. I clean house every few months. I also hate oversharing- some people just have no idea! I have a cousin who posts how badly her child is behaving, etc.

I'm still not feeling great today, but that weird middle where I don't feel bad enough to not do anything, I just don't feel good. Thankfully, I have all day to get myself moving and I only teach a few hours tonight. Yesterday I baked pumpin whoopie pies with maple frosting, molasses white chocolate blondie bars and snickerdoodle cookies.

    Thanks! I'm super excited.

  • Brittany - LOVE your picks!

And I used to just unsubscribe from people, so my Newsfeed isn't really annoying at all, but I don't need people all up in my business. Plus I'm on a career path where I can't afford to have my business (albeit boring) out there for everyone to see.
  • Edie - It's hard because H works freelance, so anyone he has ever worked with he needs to be accessible to, which I totally get. His career actually benefits from having all his stuff out there. Every time he's on set he will tweet or Instagram or mobile upload a picture. He is less excited about making himself more private, so I'm sure it will be a conversation when we actually do have a kid.
  • I actually had someone on my FB post someones name and address on FB of a client at their work because they thought their name was funny, I was like first of all you're 2, second of all you can lose your job and be sued for that.
    image
  • Swag- would he be willing to have a personal vs. professional account? I have a lot of friends that do that so they can market themselves as dancers online.

When applying for student teaching, I actually had a woman who had hired me after a phone interview add me on facebook during our first meeting... like "oh, I found you on fb, do you have a smartphone? Click accept" I did and was so happy that my facebook was employer ready.

That's a good idea, but I'm not sure how he would go about that. His existing account would HAVE to be the professional one just as to not lose those connections.

And yeah, my fb is employer-ready if I put them on the 'Limited Profile' friends list, which I do more often than not. The selfish part of me doesn't want to untag all those pictures from college. I need to just save them to my computer and then untag. None of them are awful, because I was always pretty selective about what went up, but I mean, just the sheer number of bar pictures could raise an eyebrow. UGH adulthood.
  • Cat pictures are totally acceptable :) I dont get people who post a ton (like 50+) of photos of anything. Like 200 wedding pictures? I personally think it's overboard. I get that some people genuniely want to see them, but still.
  • Good morning!

Swag - taco casserole recipe please.

Brit - are you having ceramic on the floor throughout the house?  My parents did that in their second home in Venice (bedrooms have carpeting tho) and I just love the look.

I get to go in late today because I worked a 12+ shift yesterday.  Then H and I are going out for dinner.
  • I should clarify, I'm talking like the same shot (ie: bridesmaids with boquet in center) but 6 of them, like literally the same photo. Then repeat that 100 times.

Edie, I can understand that. Good point.
  • Edie, I like the first one.

Britt - love the choices, they're not the type to get dated quickly! If you're having ceramic throughout, are you also considering in-floor heating to take the chill out? Ceramics can get cold sometimes... (I used to work in a 'home imporovement warehouse' and that was always a popular choice)

    Taco casserole sounds awesome!

  • All - WW Taco Casserole

jcb - A child of a friend from H's hometown lost a baby who was only a few months old due to a rare genetic disorder. They started an annual local fundraiser and called it "'Baby's Name' Fight". A year later, some girl on fb STOLE pictures of their baby on life support and tried to pass it off as her own baby to gain followers or support or whatever. It was SO sick.

Yes Ma'am, I can't do carpet because of my allergies, and with dogs/kids soonish hardwood is not a viable option, I also love how tile looks!

    Hi Edie.

Jenny - my mom does not have in floor heating.  She buys some beautiful area rugs to scatter around in winter.  They change the look of the room each time she rearranges them.  Of course she's got an eye for that sort of thing.

ETA:  Thanks Swag for receipe.  Looks like a winner.

I feel like down here that would be a waste- we haven't even turned the heat on but once so far. FL rarely gets cold, especially the bay area-

It's funny - the last time I was down there was December 2010, and it was at the end of a cold snap. Everyone from there was wearing hats, scarves and mittens, and we were quite comfy in jeans and sweatshirts.

I had also planned to move down there after I got my teaching degree, but ended up in Northern Canada instead. I may have gotten lost...

Perhaps a little! and you're right, I'm cold in 70 degree weather. I saw snow for the first time ever three years ago and almost died! it was cold, wet, and not fun like it is in the movies!
