Honeymoon Registery

Has anyone used this instead of registering at a store?
I like the idea, was wondering how it works & if how many guests actually contribute.

Thanks Ladies :)

I did a honeymoon registry and was very happy with it.  We used Traveler's Joy.  You can email me with any questions.  stephiehall @ yahoo . com

I wish I could see what one looks like from a guest point of view. I'm curious... this sounds like something we may be interested in...ETA - Nevermind, I see some examples on the website! Stephie- did you have to committ to an actual destination before setting up an account? We are pretty sure about what we want to do, but it may change later.
Disclaimer: Please excuse the above comment. I'm probably freaking out because there is less than one month to go. Thank you.

A friend of mine is doing this. Her wedding's not for another week, and they already have $700 from it.

Hmmm, Amber I'm not sure-we planned on Hawaii as soon as Ben proposed.

Here is ours if you want to take a look.  I had a lot of fun setting it up.

Soooo.. after this post, I sent FI the link and an example of a registry to him at work and asked him what he thought. He seemed pretty interested... is the reason why so many brides hesitate to do this because they are worried what their guests will think?

Yes, and it also gets alot of backlash on TK.  People on these boards don't have nice things to say about it.

However, I had already done mine before I came on TK so I didn't know it was considered tacky!  I think it really depends on your situation and your crowd.  If you think your guests and family will embrace it, then go for it.  We are much older and were already combining 2 households so for us it just made sense.  I did do a traditional registry also for my shower though.  All of the arguments I see against it on here seem nonsensical to me, but whatever.

We are older and have been living together for seven years. I'm 28 and he is 29. I was thinking we could do a traditional registry at Target and offer it as an alternative by way of a link on the honeymoon registry? Where do you give the link to the honeymoon registry? I know not to put it in the invitations, but that's about all I know.

I put it on our wedding website (the one for the family, not my bio) and we did list it on our shower invitations, along with the regular one.  Also word of mouth.

You can personalize it a lot more than I have, but heres a link:

yup! we love ours at www.depositagift.com

and you can register for other stuff too. their samples gave us lots of ideas and they also have pre-made lists for different travel locations or if you're saving for a new home, etc. they were really helpful and made it fun and not stressful at all.
