Just wanted to let you guys know- I got an internship! I start next week.

Last week, I got a call from a lady I'd spoken with at a networking event. She had me come in the next day for an interview at a popular local magazine, which went REALLY well. They said they'd let me know in a couple of weeks what their decision was.
On my way home, I got an email from the orginal company I'd interviewed with. Recap: I was in their top 2, but they chose the person with better availability. Admittedly, my availability until May is sucky. I was bummed, but figured second choice at such a huge, prestigious company was great. So I kept marching on. Anyway, they wanted me to come back for another interview. Apparently another spot had opened up. Well, I was going to respond "yes" when I got home.
BUT, as soon as I opened my laptop to email them back, I had ANOTHER email from the magazine folks. Apparently I was such a good fit, they decided not to wait to offer me the position, and asked if I could start over spring break. I talked to DH about what to do. I slept on it, and responded the next day to both emails. Yes to the magazine, thank you but maybe some other time to the big advertising company.
So, I start next week! WOOHOO!

LOL, thanks!
As for what I'll be doing- a LOT of different things, which is PERFECT. I'll have my own desk, I'll be assisting with audience development and contacting businesses about subscription renewals, I'll be helping with their social media stuff, maybe some writing/design work here and there, too.
I'll probably also be making coffee now and then. Good thing I am a master coffee-maker thanks to my time at the law firm! Phew!
I told them I specifically want something versatile with projects that will keep me on my toes and will have some kind of effect that I'll be able to SEE. I want my work to go forth and make something happen in the world. They seemed thrilled with that.
And, dudes, they have a foosball table and a big screen TV in their "cafe" (not a cafeteria, mind you... it's a CAFE), and there's a "relaxation room" for when folks feel too stressed and need a minute of quiet.
I want to just put a big huge "LIKE" button on this whole internship. lol
Still here and still fabulous!
I'm so happy for you right now
