Ordering a dress online

Have any of you had success ordering a dress online?

I have my heart set on a 1950's/60's style dress with a full skirt and short or cap sleeves, and this type of dress just does not exist in stores in my area. It DOES happen to exist in Utah. Apparently my "retro"is exactly the same as the Mormons' "modest" style!

Anyway, the bottom line is the only dresses that I really want are the ones I've seen online, but I'm very afraid of what I'll actually get. Most of these places have a return policy, but it looks like it can get complicated and expensive to send a dress back.

Can any of you share your good or bad experiences ordering your dress? Also, I'm losing weight so I'm not sure if I should order true to my current size and alter, or a little smaller.

    Buying online can be a huge gamble, but if you do your homework you can take steps to minimize those risks. Make sure the dealer has a good reputation, and get to know their returns policy in and out. I'm sure you can find someone who is trustworthy and willing to work with you.

    Most of the popular lines make modest gowns and have ways to modify gowns to modest.  Find the gown style you like and contact your local store to see if they can make it modest.  Also my favorite place for all of this info is Pearlsplace.com and they can help you along.  My best friend needed a modest gown and loved an Allure one, they made it modest.

    It's not just a modest gown that I want, its the overall style. I really just found this one that I want more than anything. I made an appointment to see some gowns at a local store, but I might ultimately buy the one I fell in love with online.
