In Response to Re: FFF : My FI works for a distributor (only not in the office, he's a warehouse mechanic) I can't tell you how many times he comes home reaking cuz he got a beer shower from a broken case on the 5th floor spewing through the grated floors.

We have to destroy out of date beer.
So our poor guys sometimes have to go home smelling like stale beer.
I feel for our guys, I just sit on the phone and argue all day.

Apparently they used to allow drinking here. Corporate stopped it.
Oh, and when you're short a CDL driver b/c he got a DUI on the way home from work, you're screwed.
In Response to Re: FFF : HAHA, yeah I think they used to allow drinking at his work too. Do they let you buy breakage? FI used to be able to score $6 cases until the underager's ruined for everyone by stealing it so now nobody gets it.
Posted by mgietler76
::Butts into thread:: H gets those $6 cases at his workplace. He works for a Miller/Coors distributor. At their general sales meetings, they get to have a beer or two. Or if they have to schmooze with a client, they get free beer. I want to drink at work.

What company does your FI work for (I see you're in NY)? I think H applied for a job at North American Breweries recently.

No, out of date beer HAS to be destroyed.

And no one under 21 can work here... I find it odd they let underage people work there.

• The big wigs can drink during lunch meetings.
But in reality, they can do whatever they want.

No not the out of date beer (although they still sell that to bars which is why FI and I will always check the date of our beers when we are out) But the breakage, like when one bottle breaks in the case they can't sell it because of the risk of glass pieces. I think the underagers are actually the owners sons come to think of it, and I know they steal stuff ALL THE TIME.
• In H's company, the only underage people who work there are pickers- they run the forklifts to reach pallets of beer stacked up. They cannot touch the beer however.

Weird, at FI's place the underagers are never allowed to touch a forklift lol Different companies different policies I guess.
• Even our pickers are 21.

When one beer in a base breaks, the packaging is thrown away.  We have a thing we put them in, hose them down to ensure there's no shards of glass, and we order packaging and repack them.

maratea & mgietler- Just because I'm an HR geek I'm butting in here. It might be company policies, but it also might be your respective states' differences in labor laws. In Michigan they're really restrictive about what job responsibilities underagers are allowed to perform.

ETA: Wrkn too. :)

Yeah that's what I figured! Anyways have a good night ladies, I'm heading out for the night, if I don't pop on over the weekend have a good one.
• Yeah it's 5:00 and I'm getting the FLOCK out of here too. Goodbye, workweek! I won't miss you.

..::guzzles the last sips of her beer and skips out the back door::..
• Ak, that's possible.

:-)  Everyone have a great weekend!

• I have nothing to add about beer so I will second Celles' flame about that girl on the Phoenix board.  I don't know if she REALLY thought someone was going to let her come to their wedding because her fiance "has never been to a wedding and therefore is unable to understand them/help plan" or what, but she never came back.  She crazy.
