New York-Long Island

Tough time finding a venue!

I am recently engaged and my fiance and I live in FL but are from LI and due to the fact that our family and friends live in NY we have to get married there.  We are looking to be married in 2 years, so we started looking for a venue already.
I am pulling my hair out already.  I haven't founf a place that is less than 90 a head and at least 125.  I don't want a huge wedding and since my fiance and I are paying for more than half of it, money is a big deal.

Does anyone have any ideas for venues????...I'm crafty and am willing to do a bunch on my own, we are probably doing our own invitations, escort cards, and all the rest of the stationary.

There are plenty of places that cost less than that, if you're flexible about date and time.  I mean, if you're looking to get married on a Saturday night in July, yes, it will be that expensive, but if you're willing to consider a Friday or a Sunday or an afternoon, or the "off-season" (winter/early spring), you can definitely save money.  Inexpensive venues (less than $100/head for a Saturday afternoon in August, which is what I was looking for): Larkfield Manor, the Mansion at Timber Point, Captain Bill's Bayview House, Chateau Briand, Jericho Terrace, the Milleridge Inn, the Metropolitan in Glen Cove, and the Coral House.

what is your budget? what time of year/time of day and day of the week are you looking for? weddings here are expensive (like everything else). if your budget is unrealistic you may have an issue.

I'm getting married at Mediterranean Manor in Patchogue. They have an all inclusive package where you get the centerpieces, dj, video or photo & limo for one price. The food is really good too. Everyone there is super nice and extremely helpful. check out their website. www.medmanor.com HTH

Thank you everyone for getting back to me.  We are looking to get married in early Oct. 2013.  I have recently (yesterday) spoken to Mediterrian Manor.  I like the idea of all inclusive as I don't really have that much time to run around.  There were a few things that I worry about there but I am going to have a very reliable friend go and see it before I visit in March.  My budget is 10-20 thousand depending on family involvement.  We are waiting for a final number but I would like to keep it no more than 12-15.  We are not even inviting people from Florida (unless they are in the wedding party) to keep cost down.  We are still looking but there may be some light at the end of the tunnel.

If you need any advice or questions answered on Med Manor I'd be happy to help from a bride's POV vs. them trying to get you to sign a contract. lol I'm not using their photographer. You get video or photo, which worked out great bc I wanted both, and hated the photographer's style. They offer 2 dj companies and depending on the party you want (upbeat or more chill)  one is a better fit than the other. They also offer 2 florists. I did upgrades on the limo and I'm using the florist for everything (they only include centerpieces) Private message me if you have any other questions :)

    Martha Clara Vineyards
    Indigo Hotel - Riverhead
    Sparkling Pointe

Just to name a few. These are all great places that only do 1 wedding at a time.

I'm thinking of having my wedding at The Inn at New Hyde Park. I went to visit the venue the other day, and I absolutely fell in love. They just re-did the venue, and it looks amazing!! I just have to sit down with them and talk about wedding date openings and all that to secure a venue. I'm attending this event on Monday, and The Inn at New Hyde Park as well as other venues are going to be there if you are interested in attending. Details are below...
