Beach wedding

I am having a beach wedding and still wants to have some formal elements. My FI insist on being more casual with just a white pants suit and the groomsmen in a button down shirt and khaki. I am seeing red because I still want to feel like my wedding is a wedding and not a casual get together. I don't mind the casual wear as far as my guest but not my wedding party. I do not want them in tux but maybe something in the middle. Any suggestions on what to put them in???????

Keep in mind that you will be on the beach, and layering clothing might be very uncomfortable and HOT! My fiancee and I are getting married on the beach also, and we have decided that we want to be casual, but still have a bit of formality as well.. maybe you can have the men wear a bow tie or a regular tie? A jacket might be too much, but a simple tie will add the classiness you are looking for, without having them sweat too much! I personally think bow ties are so adorable!

They're doing shirts and ties with vests. I think it's a solid look.
Another compromise might be to have them in jackets and ties for the ceremony, then ditching them for the reception.
We're getting married outdoors, in the Summer, in the afternoon, so it'll probably be pretty warm. (And we're both fairly sweaty, as people go.) So, we're planning on wearing full Highland formal for the ceremony, then changing into trousers, shirts and ties for the reception.

I'm with you, shirts and khaki's is too causual. How about linen suits?
