Question: How often do you...

Re: Question: How often do you...

  • I'm in the once a week camp.  All the towels get switched out on the weekend, and I wash all the towels at once a few times a month, when the stack of clean ones is gone.  We each have our own towel set (his is blue, mine is white), and the towel rack is right above the furnace vent, so the towels usually dry fairly quickly.  I dunno, maybe I'm not as as skeeved out by germs as I should be.
  • I guess maybe after every 2 to 4 uses, unless they smell. H and I use different towels, but he seems to forget that putting a wet towel on top of another damp one will make them musty because they don't dry, so sometimes only after 1 use.
  • I feel like I know you all so much better now.
    :)

I generally wash my towels twice a week- when I'm doing other laundry. I just go through the apartment and grab kitchen towels, bathroom towels, random pieces of clothing and it all goes in the laundry room. I only wash sheets once a week though.
  • Sheets are once a week or, if I suck, once every other week.  But I will confess that as of right now, it's been like, three weeks.  With the move I can't really motivate myself to clean much right now since I know everything will get cleaned after it's all taken care of.

    Yeah.  Now I feel nasty.

  • H & I use seperate towels. He uses a "Kent sized towel" (he is very tall), and I actually use a fleecy bathrobe and a hair towel.

  • Sheets are every couple of weeks generally.  We should do them more though, especially considering the three cats that park on the bed 12 hours out of every day.

I feel like I should, but I couldn't for the life of me tell you who/where it was from.

Not a laughing matter, J! I sincerely hope you take seriously the fact that your pillow case must be changed nightly.

    heh.
  • I recalled- and it made me smile.

Eh, maybe once a week. J and I share a towel and it dries during the day.  Sheets get changed probably once a week now that we have a "normal" bed and its easy for me.
And horror of horrors, when I was home and under the influence of med, I used his toothbrush. I think we'll both survive.

I love you Missy. Even though you are not smart enough to take online quizzes to find out really important information. ~cew
  • I am so jealous of you people who have W/D in your houses/apartments.  We have laundry in the basement, and I HATE it.  NYC sucks sometimes.

Don't feel bad, the other night I came home, and there was dog hair all over my bed. (My dog is NOT allowed in my bed, she was just naughty that day) Anyways, I didn't want to change the sheets, so I just lint rolled it. :( Yuck

[QUOTE]My mom's towels smell like dirty kitchen sponges - which is really, really strange to me, because she's a really neurotic clean freak.  I think it has to do with her front loading washer and that she might not get the towels into the dryer fast enough after they wash.  They just sit in there for a while.  And when you use the towels you can smell it on you like, all day.  It's gross.  I've told her numerous times but she can't smell it, probably because she's just used to it or something.

My stepmom's towels smell like this too, and I can't figure it out. She's not a clean freak, but she's pretty neurotic about the laundry. I'm starting to wonder if it's the water.

When I was younger, I used to only use bathroom towels once. Then I started doing my own laundry and paying for it. I now use 1-2 bath towels a week and change out the hand and kitchen towels weekly.

His towels are green, mine are purple (our favorite colors).

  • This is pretty funny, because FI and I are the exact opposite of you and Ben.

When I lived at home, we used towels once and then threw them in the wash.  When I first stayed at FI's apartment, I realized he hung his towels up after a shower.  He usually changes them out once every few days.  At first it grossed me out, but now that I pay for laundry, I've gotten used to it :).

  • I have lots of weird skin allergies. Years ago, a derm I saw for the latest damn skin thing that would no go away told me to use my towels only once, change sheets, at mimimum three times a week and use only Dreft soap (he said many of the "no dyes" detergents are full of funky chemicals). Been way better ever since then.
  • I only use a towel once, but I still don't wad them up. I hang them until their dry and then out them in the dirty clothes. No chances. :)
Sheets I wash every three days. I watched a commercial on bed sheets, and it showed what you lay in if you don't wash them. eww. So now, I wash them all the time.
