How did your infused vodka come out?!  I was very interested in it and thought it might make great gifts for the holidays.  Have you tasted yours yet?  Any feedback/advice for someone about to make it?  Any idea how long it stays good?

  • It is so fantastic.  We have been making cranberry vodka tonics since Tuesday!  The directions I posted worked great.  When we were straining the cranberries out, we did press the cranberries with a spoon (tried to avoid red hands!) to get any excess vodka out.  It came out a very pretty, cranberry red!

FI says because of the amount of alcohol in the vodka, it will stay good for a very long time - at least quite a few years.

PLUS, instead of throwing away the strained out cranberries, I made cranberry walnut bread. Yum!

  • That sounds amazing.  Now I definitely have to try it.

  • Awesome!  I will make mine tomorrow then!  :)  Thanks!

  • Okay I have some more questions:  What type of container did you use to let it sit?

And did you taste it as you went along?  Given today's date, if I start tonight it won't technically be sitting for two weeks before I package it to give as gifts...I'm wondering if maybe you tasted it after a week and a half or so and it was still yummy...?

  • We have one of these types of drink dispensers, so we just used that because it was large and had a lid.  Probably anything that you can cover will work.

I did taste it after one week and it had a pretty decent cranberry flavor, it just wasn't as strong as after two weeks.  So I'm sure that it will taste really good if you are only able to let it sit for one and a half.
