Howdy :) *Intro*

Hello !! I'm new here and thought I'd put an intro!  I just got engaged 2 weeks ago at the top of a giant tor while rock climbing and rapelling ! It was perfect! My fiance is in the Army.  I haven't really planned anything yet.  Actually the thought of planning a wedding makes my stomach curl haha... I was googling and came across the knot and then this board! We are currently in Alaska so planning a wedding will be hard being 3000 miles away from where it will be! I don't really know what else to write!

  • Hi and welcome!

As far as planning goes, enjoy being engaged for a bit, it's a fun time. Are you going to be getting married in Alaska or in the contiguous states? What do you do, are you in school or have you already started working? Any fur-babies?

Planning is easy once you make the decision it's all about the follow-through!

  • Thanks for the welcome!!!!!

The wedding will be in Oklahoma where all my family is.  I'm not currently in school I did go to cosmetology school in OK so I do hair/nails/facials...etc... I'm not working and doing hair right now which sucks but it's just so hard building a clientle (btw I'm a terrible speller lol)  I'm in talks with a salon so hopefully I'll be doing hair again soon!! I miss it!!!  I do have one fur baby, she's a siberian husky and the sweetest most loving dog ever!! Love her so much! :) Thanks again for the welcome and I'm definitely enjoying being engaged already!!!
  • Hi! Welcome and congrats! Enjoy being engaged and planning will work out!

    OH wow! That is rad!
I'm from around the OKC area...  we're not really picky on where exactly in OK but we're looking up in Guthrie.  Our style is Vintage Country...
BTW your picture on here is amaizing!  Who was your photographer?  If you don't mind me asking... And I will definitely need all the help I can get.  I peeked at the OKlahoma board on here but haven't really posted there yet, but I'm sure that will help too.
  • The Dominion House in Gurthrie is so pretty, I have been to a couple of weddings there and they have been great.

The Red Round barn in Arcadia might be more your style with the Vintage Country. It is a pretty historic barn with a round roof. I know a lot of people get married there and they weddings looked lovely.

My photographer was great. His name was Alan R Ball. He was, really nice and had a reasonable price. A lot of the pictures were really great. But I don't know if this is because we were rushed, but some of the formal shots weren't great.... But I tend to be picky and see things that normal people wouldn't really bother with, like a finger cut off, or a pedestrian walking on the sidewalk. But, he was great and would do anything that we wanted to do.

The Dominion House is gorgeous!  Not really sure if it's my style...and I looked into the Red Round Barn but there's no A/C and I'm looking at a late spring early summer wedding which would not be good plus most of it's upstairs and there's a lot of elderly people in my family .... so the search continues!  Right now we're looking into Rosebrook Vineyard in OKC... but it's a bit too pricey for me!  My dad is a freeze brander and knows a lot of people who have really awesome big, pretty barns (there is such a thing! lol) and I may just rent everything, but I don't know yet, so many options!!

I have a friend who wants to do the photography for me she does decent portraits but she's never done weddings before, so I'm on the fence.  I don't want to hurt her feelings either... we'll see .
