Cheap flights? and what to do in Freeport/Nassau?

Our honeymoon cruise is booked! :))
Now I have to find cheap flights to Orlando from NC - Greensboro area. Any suggestions? I found 257/pp with taxes and fees. Which is pretty good.

Also, what excursions should we check out in Freeport and Nassau?

Thanks!

  • i can;t be of too much help, but I'm going to Nassau for my bachelorette party in 3 weeks so I'm also interested if anyone has ideas of what to do!

  • I would NOT book the Blue Lagoon excursion if it's an option on your cruise...we did it on our last cruise and were underwhelmed. The boat ride there was nice, as was the $1 rum punches on the way back, but the lagoon itself wasn't that great--lots of inflatable water things to play on for a fee, lots of kids, and mediocre food.

I like Paradise Island.  The beach is great, drinks in coconuts, and you can always go check out the Atlantis, too.

  • Are you going on a Carnival cruise?! We are going on the Carnival Pride on 6/10 which stops in Nassau, Freeport, and Port Canaveral.
We just booked our excursions and are swimming with dolphins in Nassau and are doing a snorkel and kayak tour in Freeport.

  • We went on a cruise to the Bahamas last winter, with a stop in Nassau. Right when we got off the ship, there were a number of local tour guides. We found a guy who calls himself "Uncle Sam", and for $20 each, he promised a tour around the island. It was honestly the best time! We toured the wealthy, middle class, and poor areas. We saw the president's house, professional athlete's homes, etc. He took us to the highest point of the island where there's and old fort to tour (top chef all-stars filmed a couple of episodes here), with the absolute best views for photos. A visit to Atlantis was also on the tour and we stopped at a non-touristy fish market for lunch on the way. I highly recommend the conch salad :) After Atlantis our last stop was the beach, fairly close to the ship! It was so much fun, and we ended up giving our friend "uncle" a huge tip because it was worth so much more than $20 a piece!
