Officiant cost

What is the normal range for officiant? Debating between a church wedding and having it all at the venue and trying to figure out the cost of each. Church's charge, plus you need a limo. Officiants charge plus the hall charges extra and there are set up charges per chair used.

Re: Officiant cost

  • I am getting married at the church where I am a member, and the "cost" is free. I will make a donation to the church and probably do something for the pastor. We will need to pay a nominal fee for the sexton to clean up after the ceremony, and $250 for the organist. So, there is some cost, but it should be under $1000. (More like $500-$750)

I don't think we are having a limo. It's just not necessary - the church and reception venue are very close and all wedding party members have either a spouse and/or children who would need to drive to the reception anyway. I have been a bridesmaid and have needed FI to drive me to the limo-pickup-location - which was out of the way, but necessary since otherwise my car would have been left at a random hotel, ya know?

  • My childhood church told us the donation was $1350 including the $250 organist and cleanup fee.  Plus we needed to take pre-maritial courses.  FI is also not Catholic so we would have only have had the ceremony not the mass.  We eventually opted for to get married at the venue.

  • My officiant is $450. We are having our ceremony at the venue.

  • We got a deal on the officiant - $300. But our venue charges 5 per person to set up the chairs. So we are right around 1100

  • I did the ceremony at my venue for no extra fee (would have been $1 per person extra for doing it outside if we chose). My officiant was $200. I offered to feed him as well and he politely declined. So we upped his tip some.
