Towel gripe

I've been towel shopping for weeks.  I thought they would make a nice gift for my sister's family b/c they just moved into a new house and my nieces now have their own bathroom. 

Why are wash clothes almost as much as bath towels?  The fabric ratio is something like 1:15, yet the price ratio is about 1:2.  I have to look at sets prices as a whole to keep me from getting all stabby about it.

    I also want to know why large pillow cases cost about as much as the rest of the sheet set (as in, about the same price as the fitted and flat sheets)?

    I do not know.

    I do know that I LOVE Kohl's "BigOne" towels.  They are on sale constantly and really last.

    Yes, this is true. You can find some nice thick towels at Ross.

    Also? Towels are 30". Towel rods? 24".  WTF, people. W. T. F.


    When I vented about this on D&R 3+ years ago, they were all "can't you just fold your towel in half?"  Dude. Maybe it's my profession, but there's no reason I should have to fold a damn towel in half because someone else is an inept designer.  I managed to find 30" towel rods, but it was VERY hard to find some that weren't insanely expensive and were remotely attractive/coordinated with the rest of the house/bathroom.

    My favorite towels are my Ikea towels with a loop sewn in so that I can hang them on a peg rack and avoid the stupid towl rack problem.
