So, we have these friends... Friends who were so excited to be going to our wedding. Friends who said they would absolutely be there. Friends who said they couldn't wait to go to the wedding. Now that has seemed to change.
They recently came to us and said that they don't think that they will be able to go because they don't think they can afford it. We were bummed, but we got it. I mean, we've been having financial issues, too.
Then I find out that they really can afford it. They are going on two different trips that they booked AFTER they were invited to our wedding AND said they were going. One is about a month before our wedding and the other is the month after. Both places they have been to before. More than once.
So, yeah, I'm a little annoyed. Don't lie ppl, just tell the truth.
Re: A little annoyed...
Just today I received a FB message from my Cousin.. who also has been saying since I got engaged that she would be there no matter what... well today she said that she doesn't think they will be able to afford it because they don't have anyone to watch the kids and to take the kids would be too costly... BUT they are going to Cozumel next week... They went to cozumel like 8 months ago too.... so I don't get it.. BUT each their own...
The day I married my best friend!
Anyways, I agree, why couldn't they just come out and say that they decided on something else. There is really no need to string somebody along and get their hopes up when you know that its not going to happen.

[QUOTE]I say while you're in Hawaii, you send them a nice little "Wish you were here" postcard, and a bundle of sarcastic love: "Sorry things didn't work out financially. Can't wait to get back to hear all about BOTH of your other trips though! Attach an ice scrapper!

I may just do this!
Oh, well they are the ones missing out. You've all seen what we've been doing for this wedding. We have a nice group of guests going with us and I know it's going to be a ton of fun.
Plus, on the bright side of things, less money we have to pay for the wedding!
It must be common lack of manners now-a-days bc this happened to us with 3 of the invites, they "couldn't afford to go blah, blah, blah" then have the NERVE to post on FB that they are taking vacations one to the Turks & Caicos, with the whole fam in tow... Yeah I smell something.... Smells like BS! But look at it this way, those who DO come are those who really love & support you and you don't need the others & their BS excuses with that negative energy on your big day.... xx

I so can relate. We had friends of ours do that too. My best friend from college was all about coming and then she pulled the "we can't afford it" card but she has no problem buying designer clothes and traveling all over the world for yoga retreats plus she & her husband are both on wall street. It is a load of BS!! But at the end of the day I know that the people who care about us the most and who are truly are friends are going to be there. Hell the Best Man has been having financial issues and another friend of ours lost their job yet they are doing all they can to make sure they are there.
Besides what matters most is that you & D are getting married in Maui!! and you two are the most important ppl so....
