Minnesota-Minneapolis and St. Paul

DJs

Hi ladies,
Do you have any suggestions for inexpensive, but great DJs? I know Adagio DJ markets themselves as the best DJs in Minneapolis, but when someone called me from there, I was kind of turned off. Also, when you booked your DJs, what exactly did you look for?
Thanks!

I went w/Midwest Sound. They're not the cheapest in town, but they're definitely not the most expensive, either. I like that they've been in business for years, and I like that they are a full-time DJ company. It's not a guy who has a day job and DJs on the side, and it's not a company that also provides videography, equipment rentals, photography, etc. It made me feel good to know that not only do they have backup equipment in case something breaks, but backup people as well in case the DJ gets sick or something.

Full disclosure, I used to DJ for them. Seeing how well the company is run behind the scenes made me that much more comfortable hiring them for my own wedding.

We are going with Complete Music.  No annoying phone calls from them.  We were referred to them by my FSIL who attended a wedding they DJ'd and said they were great.  When we met with them we loved them!

We're going with Neon Express.  It definitely is the cheapest price I could find around. It is 2 guys who DJ on the side.  They have gotten rave reviews from a majority of brides and mediocre/bad reviews from a few.

We are using them ($250 for 6 hours) and are hoping that everything goes smoothly for us.  I'm hoping we don't regret going with the cheapest option.

We also booked Midwest Sound. They were so great with me, and answered all of my questions I had. They had a great price, and made me feel really comfortable with my decision.

We also booked MIdwest Sound.  Not the cheapest but not he most expensive.  They gave us a really good deal since we are having a Friday wedding and we are having our reception @ a place that they said I can get a discount for having it there.  They were very easy to work with and not annoying at all.

We went with Neon Express, and I thought they were just okay.  The music didn't skip or anything, but otherwise we got what we paid for.  I wasn't in the ballroom a whole lot after dinner, since we rented a mansion and got use of all the rooms so I was out mingling with everyone, so I can't say I was around the entire time to see them do their thing.  But what I saw wasn't anything special.

Ditto PP on Midwest Sound!  We booked with them & also received a discount for our Friday wedding & location.  Our total was $495 for dinner/cocktail music & 3 or 4 hours of dance music.

To us it was worth a little extra, for the reassurance that they have someone on call 24/7, in case we have any issues at all.  They've been very helpful with all of our quesitons & not pushy at all.  Highly recommended!  = )

We booked Neon Express. We were not going to have a DJ, but I figured that for $250, I'd rather pay and have piece of mind instead of using my laptop. They are also doing our ceremony music for $50.

Totally going with Midwest Sound. They have done a number of wedding we have been to. We booked them at a bridal show last fall. When we found out they have uplighting we called and added that to our package too.

We had looked at Neon, but FI wasn't comfortable with them not having a real office. We also looked at Complete and Bella, and were completely turned off by their sales tactics.

I have found that with dj's you get what you pay for. It is good to talk to a couple of companies and go with the ones you feel comfortable with. Even if they cost a little more. When we started looking we knew we didn't want just some guy or my cousin's husband.
