Emmas Boutique-SERIOUS VENT

alright ladies, so I went to this little store in Red Oak to look at dresses in January. This is where I ended up buying my wedding dress and all of the dresses for the girls in the wedding. First off, if you are looking for a wide variety of dresses and good customer service, this is not the place for you. That is not my vent though, this is.....my wedding is next Saturday and we have NOT gotten my bridemaid dresses. When should they have been here you ask, well let me tell you. They were supposed to be here on Monday, at the latest.....here we are Thursday night, and no dresses.

We have called every single day this week, I called Monday and Tuesday, my mom called yesterday, and my SIL aka MOH called today. They have told us NOTHING. They said they had no way of tracking it, no way of knowing when it would arrive nothing. Then they told my SIL today that it was "delayed" in shipping and probably did not even ship until today. She just kept telling her "they will be here, dont worry, I promise they will be here by next Wednesday at the latest". Then the girl had the AUDACITY  to tell my SIL that "Well, I don't know why you are worried, the Bride does not seemed to be worried about it at all, so you shouldn't be freaking out" Ummm....I'm sorry, if you need me to call you an bitch you out I would be MORE than happy to. I called Monday and Tuesday but I am sorry that I am swamped with last minute things to get done and thankfully I have an amazing mom and MOH to help with the other things.

I am so unbelievably frustrated. We went to get these dresses at the very beginning of February and both girls paid for the dresses that night. They told us that they had to order the dresses later because neither of the girls had paid. Um, are you kidding me? I sat there and watched both of them pull out their credit cards and pay right then and there, and you have the balls to tell me that neither of them paid. Every day that we have spoken with them, they have all acted like they could completely care less that the wedding is next weekend and we have no bridesmaid dresses. I am so unbelievably upset, stressed, frustrated, angry...pretty much any emotion that you could think of to go along with this situation. Choosing this store to get my dresses was the worst possible decision of this whole wedding planning process. STAY AWAY FROM EMMA'S BOUTIQUE!!!!!

I'm sorry to hear about your experience.  It sounds like their customer service is quite poor.

As far as the current shipping delay, I received a notice from UPS that there are major delays due to the tornados/fires/other disasters across the country right now.   I'm sure that other carriers are probably experiencing similar problems.

The way they handled this was totally unprofessional! I'm so sorry that you had to deal with that!

ps. I don't know where these dresses are shipping from, but I know I had a package coming from Pennsylvania, and I got a notice that it was delayed due to the awful weather in the East. That was UPS though, so I don't know what it's like for other companies.

Thanks for the heads up! I was totally considering going to Emma's because they had one of the Watters dresses that I loved. I'm so sad to hear that the customer service was so terrible.

I bought my dress from Emma's too and was less than impressed too.  Their saving grace is that they have lower prices than most stores.

I had a similar incident too, my dress took 3 weeks longer than they originally said.  Good luck! I hope it works out for you.  Sorry you're going through this.  :(

I am completely understanding when it comes to the actual shipping companies. The storms are horrible and sad and I would never be upset with them. I am overall just upset with the store. The dresses were supposed to be here last week and it took us calling on 4 different occasions before someone told us that dresses did not even ship on the day they were supposed to. Not only that, I think it is a collection of building things with this store. There has been something wrong every single time that we have gone in there to pick up the other dresses. I am just to the point of wanting to punch someone lol

Can I suggest that you get your girls to some place like Dillard's or Nordstrom's this weekend to buy an acceptable replacement?  Have them leave the tags on so that they can return them just in case your dresses come in.

I know what I said above doesn't help you resolve the problem with this specific vendor but it is a possible (and possibly necessary) solution.

I was going to suggest Limited -- they have TONS of dresses right now, and they always have tons of coupons and a 15% discount for students/teachers.

Brianna- I agree that was their only good thing. All of our dresses cost less than I know they were at other stores, I just wish their customer service was as good as their prices.

Katy- When it came to my dress, I did not have problems. It was just the other dresses. I will say though that if you are looking for that fun, dress experience, with someone doting on you and making you feel awesome then this is not the place for you. I had to search for and pull my own dresses, it would usually take a few minutes for someone to lace me up, and the only time someone paid attention was when we were ready to pay.

Julie and Amanda- We actually all just talked about this :) We decided that if we don't hear anything by monday then on tuesday we are all going to go to the mall and look. that is the day I am picking up my dress after final alterations so we are all going to be together anyways. Thank y'all though, I promise that any advice is good advice, especially when you tell me that the limited has dresses on sale (well good for me not for my bank account)

Oh, honey.  Just because I get a teacher discount does not mean I ever save any money ever.  I know it will all work out -- your bridesmaids could wear jeans and no one would notice because you are SO GORGEOUS in your dress!

What exactly are you looking for?  Also, if your girls are close to sample sizes, you might want to consider David's Bridal or AA.

Agreed -- I am in a wedding in August and the bride wanted to make sure to keep costs low for her BMs.  We bought our dresses at Macy's and they are really cute!

I would just stay on their backs until they get in. I totally agree with PP, If you don't hear anything soon, find some backups somewhere else just to be same.
I'm so glad you let us know the horrible service, I'm just so sad that it had to happen to you!!

I also think it is so ridiculous that they said they have no way of tracking them or knowing when they would arrive. Sounds like a lazy cop out to me.

I bought my dress at Emma's and had no problems whatsoever. It was convienant for me since I live in Red Oak. But I also didn't order anything, I found my dress at one of their sales & bought it right then & there. I'm sorry you had that experience with them though. I'd just stay on them til they get your BM dresses in.

Amanda- Thank you dear, a girl can never hear too many compliments :)  speaking of which, I am obsessed with your siggy pic, it is ssoo good!

Julie amd Amy- I am actually going to the mall with my SIL tomorrow to get some wedding night stuff so we were going to look at the department stores there. I am glad you said something about the other stores, because there is a Davids Bridal right next to the mall so we are going to check that out too!

I just got off a 2 hour phone conversation with my SIL and she was able to talk to me down. She is extremely upset about it too, but she put everything into perspective for me. I have calmed down a lot about it now, but I will say this, if we do not get these dresses before the wedding.....hell hath no fury like a pissed off bride :)

Brianna- Is there no way at all that we can put something on the vendor website about negative experiences? I think those are sometimes more helpful than what we have.

I'm so sorry that they did that to you... As bad as it seems right now I think you still have plenty of time to figure something out so don't let it stress you out. If this is the worst thing that happens you are going to have a wonderful day! Just relax and know that everything happens for a reason and it will work out.

Angela, is that not what our reviews are for? Sara obviously is having a terrible time with them, but Janice just said she likes them. To give them a one-time grade would be unfair and vindictive, IMO.

whoa when I read that I kind of freaked out for a second because you said Janice and that is my moms name, I was like how does she know my moms name? haha sorry, sleep deprived! They called today and FINALLY gave us a shipping number and when you look on UPS it says it was shipped out yesterday afternoon, which means all that time they were telling us it had shipped they were lieing. I don't care really anymore, it says on UPS it should be here by end of business day Tuesday and that is all that matters to me at this point.

This is my thought on this:

We can post our reviews about each vendor... I think that is okay.  We just can't trash them when we didn't specifically work with them.  Make sense?

Yes... that's exactly my thoughts. I think that adding vendor reviews to the website would be greatly helpful!

Not to be negative, but I hope other brides who haven't ordered their BM dresses see this and realize the stress of a time crunch! I ordered our BM dresses 6 months early so they would be in and have time to be altered, ect... I know I'm extreme, but leave yourself some room for error. Over estimate time that any one tells you- just in case.

I did not have the luxury of a long engagement unfortunately. My FI is in the service and the job that he does is a highly deployed job, and we wanted to get married before he could get deployed. Which is good we did because his best friend that works with him got orders to deploy last week, and there is talk that they might be sending 2-3 more corpsment from his base. We got engaged on New Years eve and my bridesmaids and I went on the first available day we could to look at and order dresses. We got the dress we did because not only did it look amazing on both of them, but we were told/promised that it would be here in enough time for them to get alterations if they needed them. I only had 4 months to plan the entire wedding and we have done the best job that we could under the circumstances. We would have never ordered the dresses had we not been promised every way possilbe that they would be here in enough time. Believe me if I had a longer time to do this then the dresses would have been ordered well before the wedding.

I Totally agree Amanda. I was thinking more of a grade (decided by the Knottie) next to each person that used them. Like ex, It would have all the info for it, then knotties that used it: BSN-A+, TexanTreasure08-F, etc. Or just adding the individual reviews from each Knottie to each vendor would be even better!
Brianna- I agree that they need to be reviews for vendors that you have actually used.
