Wedding Party

OT: Well that blows

The Globe and Mail published the story of a girl I went to high school with.  She got left at the altar.

I thought it only happened like that in movies.

  • OMG.
The Bump ate my signature. DD - Apr 2011 DS - expected June 2013
  • Holy crap, I cannot imagine how devastating that was for her. I don't even have the words.

Although, I do think when you're coming up with an escape plan from your own wedding, you clue your partner in the moment it crosses your mind. Don't effing wait until she's putting on her wedding dress.

  • That's heartbreaking.
  • Seriously.  I really do think it's better to call a wedding off than to go through with it with all your doubts and then get divorced later.  But you can't tell me that you had no idea until an hour before the ceremony.  A little notice would be nice!!

  • That's what is so terrible.  It would have sucked at any time but to wait until right before the ceremony is so cruel.
  • Wow.  I can't even imagine.

  • Wow I can't even imagine...and thank goodness I won't have too.

At least he did have the balls to come to the room and tell her instead of just running off and not showing up as she stood there in her dress.

  • I'm glad that he left her when he did.  Like PP said, better to do it before the wedding, I just hope most of the vendors were on his card.

Repeat this to your self: My Wedding Party is made of my family and friends and I should treat them as such.
  • I'm still wondering why he changed his mind, and what happened afterwards.  But yeah, that blows.  I feel horrible for that woman.
  • What a nightmare. I too am curious if she ever found out more about why- she mentioned he had a small guest list, maybe his family/friends didn't approve for some reason? It seems like a lot is missing from this story- and so wierd that he also stayed for the week at the same hotel...
