Soul Train Line And Electric Slide

Are you doing these at your reception? I think its something thats just apart of our culture and heratige and ive always wanted to do it. A few people have said its cliche' and tired. What do you think

I know at my wedding whether I plan it or not it is going to happen.  Like you said it is a part of our culture.  I don't think you should plan for it to happen.  If it happens naturally just go with it otherwise just dance the night away with your guests.  The point is to just have a good time

I was just imagining this over the weekend when I heard Marvin Gaye's "Got to give it up" We are SOOO doing the Soul Train Line and plenty of line dances. I think it gets people up who don't have a partner to dance with.

We did the Electric Slide.  Our crowd was really diverse so I only wanted one "line" dance and I hate doing the soul train line, plus our reception venue wasn't set up for both.  For us the Electric slide got everyone into it, the soul train line wouldn't have gone off as well, it would have felt like we were forcing people to dance, but that's JMO.

We never even thought about the Soul Train line...but the Electric Slide was OUT, OUT, OUT. There is something about that song that I cannot stand. However...the dance did occur but to Cameo's 'Candy', which was fine. Its the song I cant stand, not the dance. I just told the DJ in our meeting that if he played the Electric Slide song, he wasn't getting paid. (I still cringe thinking about the song)

We also did the Cupid Shuffle because my mom loves that song. I was surprised that nearly the whole reception got on the dance floor for that one.

NO. I abhor line dances... the only line dancing that we'll be doing is when me and my LS do it IF that happens.

Yeah i think the wobbble is more of a southern thing if im not mistaking. I live in florida I go to Florida State. But im from up north. So me and my family wont be doing it. But my fiancee' who goes to Florida State as well is from Georgia. Pure southern boy lol i guess they will be doing it

I don't want the electric slide played but i know that it will more than likely be done which is fine with me as long as I learn it by the time my wedding rolls around (I am so ashamed I don't know but FI is going to teach me). My mom really likes line dances so I will make sure the DJ plays a few.

we want our reception to be so much of a party that after a certain time, we are turning the reception into "club M" lol
no really, we are.  See the thing is this, we dont listen to music with any type of profanity in it around our parents and elders.  Same for our son.  So what we are going to do is have a traditional reception from 6-9:30. After then, we go to "CLUB M"

I like line dances (especially since I've moved to Texas, that is ALL FOLK DO lol) but FI is like NO =( I may have to do the Cupid Shuffle and the Wobble by myself!  I am with Misskin though, I want my reception to be a party and everybody needs to get up and have a good time.  I definitely want the DJ to get the party started-and with my American fam and FI's Jamaican fam I want a good mix of music that everybody will enjoy.  Shoot party over here!!
