Jasmine--re: your interest in serial killers--have you ever researched Jack the Ripper? I have an unhealthy fascination with him. One of my life goals is to see his letters at Scotland Yard and do the ghost walk.
Posted by Seshat411
I've seen the letters, but didn't get a chance to do the walk. It's very cool and creepy and interesting all at the same time.
Which did you like better? "Jedi" or "The Empire Strikes Back"? "Empire". Blasphemy. "Empire" had the better ending. I mean, Luke gets his hand cut off, finds out Vader's his father, Han gets frozen and taken away by Boba Fett. It ends on such a down note. I mean, that's what life is, a series of down endings. All "Jedi" had was a bunch of Muppets.

ALL the time. I really like my name. I was named after a woman who immigrated to American during the Iranian revolution. But, my parents changed it to Farah (pronounced "Far-ah") to Farrah (pronounced "Fair-ah") People ALWAYS ask if I was named after Farrah Fawcett and they never spell it correctly. My FI's step-mom still spells it "Fairah"!
AATB- What hair products do you use?  I also have super curly hair, and I'm always looking to try out new products that don't result in my looking like Don King.
Posted by dmiller9274
My hair is mostly wavy - it's curlier underneath.  I use all kinds of different shampoo - usually from the Herbal Essences line (Color Me Happy, None of Your Frizziness, Break's Over, Totally Twisted, Tousle Me Softly, etc) - I never buy the same kind two times in a row.

As far as actual after shower product though, just mousse.  Although I can relate to the Don King thing - finding the best mousse can be a bitch.  Growing up my mom ordered this Apple Pectin stuff, and it either discontinued or our local salon quit getting it, so we went on the hunt for a new mousse and it was a NIGHTMARE.  The one I always use now is Tresemme.  And I bounce between their curl formula and their extra hold formula.  I also will buy the Herbal Essences Totally Twisted or Tousle Me Softly mousse - I like to switch it up so my hair doesn't get too gunky.

So yeah - I just goop it up with the mousse, blow dry it upside down and walk out the door.  No styling at all, just let it do what it wants.  I don't care really how it looks, as long as I don't "miss a spot" with the mousse!

• B, I'm quitting with the help of Chantix.

Maratea, I absolutely love my rings.  H chose a pearl ring for me that I couldn't love more.  We chose a very thin, plain gold band as a wedding ring.

What will my kids be when they grow up?  What a great question!  My son is one of those quirky kids who, if I can just shepherd him through childhood/teen, will have some creative awesome career where his quirks are an asset and he is in his element.  I think he will be an awesome adult, but he does need to find his niche.  He's definitely one of those Magic/SCA/dungeons & dragons nerd boys.

My daughter is a social butterfly and a girly girl.  I have no idea where she gets any of that.  I don't know what she'll be when she grows up - right now she wants to be a singer, a movie star, and a teacher.    I'm thinking "teacher" is more likely and I think she'd be a great one.

KD:  what would surprise us all about you?
Seshat- I think you would have pretty babies. (I know, that's not a question.) Did you know our H's kind of look alike? They both have shaved heads at least. Why are you self conscious about your body? Because I looked at your honeymoon pictures and you are in great shape.
Posted by jasmineh7777
No babies! Gah! I'll have to look at your wedding pics and see what your H looks like, compare the two. H has a brother 11 months older and I swear they are idential twins. It's weird. But I think H is the hotter of the two, his brother has a "goofier" look to him (it's the best  can describe it, and my brother even said the same thing, ha).

As for the body thing, I've always been this way. I guess it comes with having it treated like an object and never really getting over that. I don't like the thought of people looking at my body, it creeps me out. There's more, but no way would I lay it all out on a public board.

What's the story about?
• That's a tough one Jas. I think so far it was actually the first day after my ex moved out and Scott and I started dating. I completely rearranged my apartment, bought pink butterfly sheets and talked to Scott for hours on the phone. I just felt so absolutely free and ready to take on the world. It was like stepping out of a smokey musty bar straight onto a beach and getting that blast of clean air.

Honestly, I love my engagement ring because it came from Scott, but I would not be opposed to a different one and it's nms at all. It catches/scratches everything. I do love the sapphires in my wedding band though :)
Petra, why geology?
Posted by raynes
<div>Because I'm a geek? I think part of it was the way I was raised. My dad had a high-stress job in the space industry, so he had about 8 weeks vacation every year. He grew up dirt poor in the depression, so every single penny of his income was saved. In the 70s and 80s the cheapest vacation to be had, for a family of four living in California, was backpacking in the Sierras. I had long legs and my brother had short legs, so as we hiked I was up with dad and brother was back with mom. When dad and I would stop to wait, I'd ask a lot of 'why' questions, and he indulged me. </div><div>
</div><div>So, I guess I was always looking around me and taking note of the natural processes occurring. I went to a school district where science wasn't exactly pushed, and geology wasn't even brought up as a possibility. I didn't even hear the phrase 'plate tectonics' until I went to community college out of high school.</div><div>
</div><div>After spending about a decade as a ski bum, I decided to grow up and go back to school. I found out that the University I had left a decade earlier would still take me. While looking for something to do, I found geology and realized I could make a living working with mountains. It made me happy. Later I found out that to some degree, geologists aren't made, they are born. When someone with an aptitude for geology looks at a road cut, they tend not to see layers of rocks, but layers of time instead. It's why we're such geeks.</div>

I'm not currently enrolled (I moved down with FI shortly after I stopped going to high school; I did an extra semester after graduating for funsies. ). I've always planned on going, so I'm just waiting to go to school in the States.

I'm interested in doing a biology major to start, I know I want to get into some scientific field, I just haven't decided which. I figured I'd do a general biology major and go off whatever class was my favourite.

Yup, they're all happy about it. I initially told my mom he was 23...lol. She googled him and found his track records from college and was like "Yeah, this says he's 30." My dad was 15 years older than her, and her first husband 12 years, so she said all I really had to tell her was that he was a college graduate and an athlete and she was sold.

The rest of my family all seems to really like him, and they know I wouldn't have agreed to it without being 210% sure.

ETA: I should add though, his family was a little wary at first, but once they realized I wasn't insane ( a la his last girlfriend) they warmed up to the idea.

I actually hate Ohio, we stay here because we love our families and friends.  I guess my favorite thing here would be Lake Erie, I love when we get to go up for a weekend.  I've been to Indiana several times, actually I'll be in Indy in November for a Colts game :)

I adore my e-ring.  This is going to sound strange, but I would have been happy if it were a little smaller.  BUT my center diamond was from FI grandmothers ring.  That alone makes it more special.  Michael was married once before, and engaged once before me too.  His mom never offered the ring for either one of them.  He didn't ask for it either, his mom told him at Christmas last year that she knew I was really the one for him and handed him the ring.  It makes me feel good that his family feels the same way about us as we do :)

Yes - at times I think having a more vintage looking ring would be cool, but it doesn't mean I'm not happy with what I've got.
