Re: Sunday Evening

• I just see the evil clouds that ruined my wedding, but Jesus and Mickey Mouse are way better.

You should. His left eye is just above the trees above your furthest left couple, and the right eye is just to the left of the next couple over.

• Hi! I've been lazy with the animals all weekend.

Once upon a time, I argued with kkchrisholm about men's and women's wages, and how the disparity wasn't sexism. She clearly took whatever she was taught in her inequalities class in college at face value and couldn't consider that there were good explanations for the disparity. Also, she refused to believe that I earn as much as similarly educated and trained men.

What an idiot.
• I proudly admit that I have a Perry the Platypus pencil case that I use for school. My classmates love it.
• H is now sold on being a platypus. Too bad he mistakenly believes he gets to be the platypus. He's in for a rude awakening when the platypus suit doesn't fit him.
• Now that I look there, I see a llama, J. Maybe I just don't have enough faith. Pray for me?
• Nah, no universe punching necessary. All these things are fleeting and temporary irritations.

• I actually think I just spotted Jesus in the clouds.

Maybe it's like those Magic Eye books from the mid-90s where you have to go cross-eyed to see the images.

SEE THE SHARK?! Click it to make it bigger.

• I see clouds. I wish I could see a llama.
• Nicki, he runs the sf/f track at Phoenix Comicon. I went to SDCC once, and that was more than enough. The crowd level was way too insane for me, and that was 6 years ago. Blagh. FI likes it though he couldn't go this year, since he's still on contract.
Speaking of costumes, one of our friends was in the group that won Best in Show at SDCC's masquerade with the entry Project Runway All Star Wars. Here's a picture.

Um, I will not pray for you. Sorry. At the wedding I was at this weekend, the pastor talked about a triple braided cord and the third person in their marriage being God, and serving God before serving each other, and it made me seriously uncomfortable.

So I don't think the big guy would respond well to my prayers for your heathen soul.

• I spent about half of the mid-ninetys at a mall kiosk, cross eyed, looking at the shark.

I was almost in middle school when those became all-the-rage, and I remember the Book Fair was always full of a variety of those books, and if you had those books, you were officially the coolest kid in class.
In Response to Re: Sunday Evening : There are a number of different ways to compare the wage gap. Most of the frequently cited studies compare the overall earnings of a man versus the overall earnings of a woman. Since men don't typically take time off from work to have kids or work part time, they tend to earn more. Also, women traditionally choose different careers. More women are teachers, and more men are investment bankers. Investment bankers tend to make more than teachers. When a male and female in the same position are compared to each other, the wage gap closes by a lot. Recently, I've heard that in such a comparison, the wage gap is significantly lower than general estimates. It's still there, which sucks, but it's getting much better.
Posted by specialk84
These are choices made by the men and women involved and shouldn't be a basis for wage comparison in my mind. I'm not going to go around complaining that I'm not making as much as men when I am choosing to work part time while our kids are small. H and I don't want our kids in daycare 40-50 hours a week. We don't want someone else having that much time influencing our children's upbringing. But that is our choice, and shouldn't be used by other women in the wage comparison arguement.

• I never had a book! I guess I was not cool. Hm. If only I had known that was the secret.
• Night ladies, I am in for a rude awakening tomorrow when I go back to work after being off for two weeks. I hope it doesn't take me forever and a day to answer my bajillion emails. And she is off.

Special, don't tell him yet, let him enjoy the thought just a little bit longer.
• I had the Magic Eyes book and later stole the sequel from my brother.

I'm heading to bed. Night, everyone!
