Gift Card drama!!!!

I had my shower on Sunday.  YEAH for me!!  I got a lot of great gifts. One was a $50 gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond.   I thought... YEAH great, I need some new towels for guest who are staying at my house prior to the wedding and after.  I also got a $25 off coupon with a purchase of $50... Super great.... I get all the towels I need. 

I go and collect my towels.. match them all up... spending an hour making sure the colors are what I want. 

I go to check out, and the gift card had been reported stolen in March!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  WTF.. REALLY...

I called the person who gave me the card. She said, no that card is good, I had it on my dresser for a year. (huuhh????) She said it was for another person's wedding that she did not go to.  I told her that I had the clerk call customer service and they confirmed that the card was no good.  She offered no excuse.

I know we dont take checks from certain people... but now we have becareful with gift cards too.... Really people???!!! WOW!!!!!

    WOW!!! So she didn't even offer to reimburse you the $50? I think that warrants for a un-invitation to the wedding!

    Yep.. I had to pay for the items out of my own pocket. 

    Next we will all have to buy those special pens and lights to check our money... LOL.  All I can do is laugh...

    Right! I agree, first she gives you a passed down gift then she offered no reimburse ment or even a new gift. That was unthoughtful! Wow, what a friend, OMG.

    OMG, that is a HOTT GHETTO MESS I say.... That's ashamed that gift cards aren't even all that great to accept. You either have to worry about rather or not it was stolen or if it even had money on it. But the lady that gave you that gift card was wrong any way you really going to give someone something from another wedding that you didn't attend. Just sad

    WHAT THE HELL???  ok 1st off she should have made sure the bal was good, its been a WHOLE YEAR!. I ALWAYS check the bal. before I give a Gift Card and KEEP MY RECEIPT. 2nd that heathen should have said ok im sorry I will give you another one or cash or something. How you go give a bad gift and not do something about it. TACKY....I take gift giving serious (thats just me)

    Wow.....crazy! She definitely should've checked to see if the gift card was still good a year later. Some gift cards don't expire, but many do have an expiration date. And what's up with it being reported stolen in March? Girl......she might've took that gift card from someone. Speechless.

    I'm so sorry that happened to you , but it made me laugh out loud.  I can't believe she had no remorse.  I will be calling the numbers on the back of all gift cards for balances from now on.
