Concert/Music Theme

Hello everyone,We are having a music/concert themed wedding because music has always brought us together and my fiance proposed to me by writing me a song. I have a lot of great ideas, but I don't want to over do it.
We know we are making concert ticket table numbers. The problem is with the save the dates and invitations.
I really like the idea of making the invitations look kinda like a concert poster, but I don't know if that's too informal. I thought of maybe doing that for the save the date and doing a classic, more traditional invitation. My fiance thinks we should have EVERYTHING match the theme, which I think is overdoing it. He wants to do concert ticket save the dates, the poster invtes, AND the ticket table cards. I would love to hear your opinions about this!

Re: Concert/Music Theme

  • save the date and inviations

concert hall picture....find a beaufiul place and print on postcards for your save the date

then make inviation like a concert program but it has your relationship history

  • I don't think that would be too much, but you may want to consider how formal your wedding is. If it will be semi-formal or formal, you may want to use traditional invitations to indicate that to people. We did quirky save the dates and more traditional invites.

I haven't seen her on here in a while, but Brit had a lot of great elements in her wedding you might like to check out:

  • I love these ideas. I don't think you would be overdoing it at all!

As a performing musician, I think this is AWESOME! The concert poster is a totally cool idea, and if he is a musician, I bet a lot of your guests are too... and they would obviously think that is an awesome invite.

Another music themed idea for invites, save the dates, and seating:

-have someone putting wristbands on your guests coming in, with their table seating on the wrist band.
-ticket stub magnets for the save the date, although I have also seen a couple do save-the-date cds. That might be expensive though.

Would love to hear how you are planning everything, that sounds like a totally cool wedding!
  • Is there a particular style of music you two are more drawn to? I know typically when someone says "concert" I tend to think of a rock concert but it could be jazz, classical, country, blues, pop, punk, etc. Perhaps you could find a genre of music that would suit whatever formality you are going for. More of a casual wedding, I could see a rock concert style poster whereas a Jazz performance might be a bit more formal looking.

I know you didn't ask for centerpiece ideas, but you could possibly do fake band posters in various musical styles to differentiate the tables. You could name the band something like, "The Lovebirds" or whatever fits the two of you and then take photos of you two pretending to be different musicians. The posters could be placed in nice, inexpensive frames and voila, awesome centerpieces.

Hope everything goes well for you.
  • This is so completely awesome.

There are tons and tons of vinyl crafts items (pinterest kind of kicks arse) that I've come across in my research because the FI is a musicaholic with a radio show.

We made some vinyl bookends for gifts. It's really easy to make candy dishes, etc, too.  I have seen 45s used in wedding veils (that may not be your thing, but it was such a killer punk detail!) I have seen cake stands and cupcake stands made out of records. There is SO much stuff out there.

Your guest "book" can be a signed guitar or drum or whatever (if either of you play an instrument), or it can incorporate the concert poster idea (have people sign it like msuicians  autograph stuff)

Favors can be a CD of your favorite music (or wedding-related music) with inserts of lyrics, your vows, engagement pictures, whatever. They can be personalized guitar picks.

I don't think your items are too much at all. You can even have concert tickets as the invites/StDs because the genre already has a place for date, location, time, etc, its mailable (shouldn't cost you extra postage), etc.

The above suggestion for concert wristbands for seating/escort is inspiring.

    Happy planning
