Tuxes - When to Book?

I am putting together a to do list for Todd so he can start working on things and have a question about tuxes. When should he place the order for himself and the GMs? His work schedule is pretty much crazy from January-April so I'm hoping to get all of his stuff taken care of before then. Is November/December too early to do this for a May wedding? When did your FIs/DHs place their order?

DH went to pick out the tuxes in June or July. I don't think it hurts to pick them out earlier, it's just not necessary.

I think we did ours in mid-July. But, if he needs to do it sooner, then that's fine I think. All our guys went on their own to get fitted and order their tuxes so if you guys go early to pick them out you can just let the guys know and they can go at their leisure.

We booked in November for our June wedding. At the time we had 2 unemployed members of the bridal party. We had it figured out that if they put down $20/month then it would be paid for in time. All they did was get fitted and had to put down the deposit and then could make monthly payments from there (as much or little as needed). Then a min of 2 weeks before they had to go in for a final fitting to verify sizes hadn't changed. All of our BP (well except BM and DH brother) had it paid for 2/3 months out.

OMG Thanks for posting this. I guess I can get off FI's head about the Tux. I have been pressing him to go and pick out the tuxes for weeks now and our wedding is not until September. I am going to still press him to figure out where he wants to get them and the overall look he is going for (just to make sure that it matches my ideas lol) but seriously thanks I like doing it enough in advance for the party to do payment plans. I LOVE THIS BOARD!

We picked ours out in August, but just to get it out of the way. We're going to have the GM's and Dad's go in March to get fitted and place their orders. We went through Men's Warehouse and the guys have up to 14 days before the wedding to place their orders.

We picked out the tux the guys would wear in May. Unfortunately, our best man waited until the week of our wedding to get fitted for his tux and pay for it -- and then discovered he didn't have enough money.

If you can get it off your plate now, I would do it.

For May weddings they say the earlier the better since it's prom season!

My wedding is May too... and my FI and I went last week to meet with Men's Warehouse and President Tuxedo. Basically, you will need to put down a small deposit to hold the prices and information of everything, and then you have until 2 weeks before the wedding for all your GM and anyone else getting a tux to get fitted. Right now, Presient Tuxedo has a special through the end of October...
