Dresses

Dress shopping sucked...  I was sicker than sick and I will never go back during a $99 sale.  I wish I had known prior to making the appointment.  I had 2 appointments for myself and my sister.  They didn't give my sister her appointment so I didn't get to try on the dresses I wanted to.  They also didn't even have 5 of the ones that I really wanted to try on.  So out of the frustration and waisted time this is what we left with as maybe's.  They both didn't do much for me but the family liked them a lot.

They loved this one.  I felt like it was too clingy in back.  As they say, "rice and beans didn't miss me."  So, I didn't like this one so much.  It also kinda felt like I was wearing a loin cloth that came from my chest.  http://www.davidsbridal.com/Product_Chiffon-Soft-A-Line-with-Beaded-Empire-Waist-WG3128_Bridal-Gowns-Features-All-Gowns

This made everyone cry when I came out.  I'm not sure why...  They said it was me and it had a bit of the wow effect.  I didn't get the same feeling.  It felt like a dress I would normally wear just downplayed.

that's unfortunate. I'm sorry you had such an unpleasant experience there! Mine wasn't so good either. I made an appointment and expected to have help from a consultant, and instead I was just shown where the bridesmaid dresses were and left to look through the whole store. Not too professional if you ask me...Have you gone dress shopping anywhere else? Mary and Tux in Nashua was where I got my dress, and the experience was great, along with the dresses! They are all gorgeous and have decent prices too.

I went 2 years ago to Bella Sera in Danvers, MA.  We were supposed to get married in 2010 but it was pushed back.

I'm planning on going to Modern Bride and Country Bridal next.

It's Saturdays--they are real trouble for David's I think. I also had a bad experience there when I went on a Saturday. Luckily I was only going to humor my mom and try on a few more dresses before pulling the trigger on the dress I ended up getting at Alfred Angelo.

But agree, it's hard when it's packed there. Brides everywhere, stress, they don't have the dresses to try on (my sales person ignored the dresses I'd printed out and only pulled dresses she thought would look good. I hated them all.) and overall it was just chaos.

I'm sorry it didn't go well! I'm sure the next shop you try will be much better, it can only go up from here! You will find "the one" soon. FWIW, I love the second one that made your family cry, that was a fave of mine as well.

I'm so sorry you had a bad time!

I got my dress at Marry and Tux.  Stephanie was my consultant and she was great.  She had all the time in the world for me to try on whatever I wanted.  They have things in all different price ranges also.

I hope your next search goes better!

I agree- I have been to David's more than a couple of times to dry on bridal gowns for me, look for BM dresses for my wedding, and then as a BM for a friend.  Saturdays were definitely a different experience than during the week.  When we went and it was not packed, I thought the service was fine, but when it's busy, it's not as personal.  That's how David's is, though.  Modern Bride can be the same (sometimes sharing consultants), so it's helpful to do on a weekday (even in the evening).  Overall, though I liked the service there.
I got my dress at Marry and Tux, and thought the service there was great.  Katie was my consultant :)

I think no matter where you go, you should go on a weekday. A lot of salons are open into the evening, too. For the most part, girls usually feel they get better service and more attention if they go to the store on a weekday. Good luck - the experience gets better! You'll find your dress soon!

I had the worst experience at David's.  I will never ever go there again, nor will I ever suggest David's to anyone.

I bought my dress at Modern Bride.

    Good luck!

I had a horrible experience at the Nashua Davids Bridal. But I had a completely different and fun experience at the Danvers Ma Davids Bridal. My consultants name was Alla and she was wonderful...we were there for about 3 hours on a Saturday. We didn't feel rushed and we all tried on many dresses... I highly recommend Alla!

I actually purchased the dress that made your family cry. It was perfect for me!

Good luck, you will find your dress!

Sorry to hear DW. Are you going to Country Bridals in Jaffrey? My SIL got her wedding dress there and had a great experience. I also got a BM dress there and everyone was so nice, and the alterations were perfect.

I have a dress apt. at David's Bridal on sunday, but the one in Warwick, RI, around where my MOH lives. I hope it goes okay...there is definatley a lot of appeal in finding a dress for less than $500.

I went to DB twice and just didn't find that WOHA dress.  My BM's got their dresses from there.  I finally found my dress at Marry and Tux and it was not that much more than the dresses I was trying on at davids.  And It was a dress that I never ever thought could look AMAZING on my.

ps: I tried on the second dress you posted, and loved it too.  My mom said that was her top choice until we found my dress. I thought it was comfortable, flattering, and pretty :)
