<div>Well, I think the biggest thing is I hate rice. Absolutely hate rice. I'm also kind of picky on my veggies, I'm pretty much carrots, green beans, broccoli but only if it's steamed, that kind of thing. So most of the recipes I find, I tend to be "eeeeeeh" about.</div>

I had biscuits and gravy for the first time about two months ago and now I'm obsessed. My husband cooks up some crispy bacon and crumbles it into the sausage gravy (because one fatty meat just isn't enough).

[QUOTE]Biscuits and gravy is the best  breakfast. I get that all the time at a local place here. There used to be a restaurant called Biscuits & Gravy near my house growing up. Then it burned down after the owner tried to kill his stepson by faking a gas leak and ended up blowing himself and the restaurant up instead.

The stepson really dodged a bullet with that one. That's just insane.

It's pretty tasty!  I use the WW recipe (<a href="http://www.weightwatchers.com/food/rcp/RecipePage.aspx?recipeId=135321" rel="nofollow">link</a>) and just up the spices a bit.

<div>Yup. H keeps getting me to try things, though. I now like broccoli as long as it has sauce on it (like in Vietnamese food I get). I will try lettuce every so often to see if I like it, but nope, still don't.</div>

  • The whole story was insane. The burned-down place is still there and there is a "sign war" going on with the sign out front. Haters go and write trash about him, fans cover it up and write good stuff, and it keeps going on and on. Kind of funny, really.

I used to be picky about a lot of stuff, but I think my taste buds are growing out of that, or changing or something. I'm more open to trying new things, like onions cooked into meals and whatnot.

Mac and cheese is just about the greatest food ever. My ex used to make it with tomatoes and bacon and it was fabulous.

Tim said if I go get milk he'll make biscuits and gravy for dinner. Score!

  • Any: how do you feel about couscous? We've been doing a lot of couscous salads lately, and they're fucking delicious. And really fast. We use whole wheat couscous so I feel like it's healthful enough, and then I add whatever veggies/meat/cheese/herbs I feel like. I usually dress it with lemon and olive oil.

On an unrelated note: when my husband takes a shower, he grabs a towel with the water still on and starts toweling his front half off while his back half is still in the water. Because "he gets coooooollllllld!" otherwise.
  • I have branched out a ton since H and I first met. Of course, that wasn't hard considering all I ate was peanut butter, mac and cheese, and mashed potatoes.

Oh, and if you need the nutrients but don't want to eat the veggies, Naked juice is really good. The green kind has broccoli, kale, spinach and other stuff in it, but it also has green apples and grapes in it, so it doesn't taste like veggies. This coming from someone who doesn't eat green veggies except for green beans.

<div>I tried it once, the texture gets to me. I don't like rice for the same reason. </div><div>
</div><div>We did get a pot with a steamer thingie as a gift, so I might just start adding more veggies to my diet that way. I just can't do boiled, and while I love baked carrots, I tend to smother them with butter and herbs, which while tasty, I'm sure has a ton of calories.</div><div>
    </div><div>
</div><div>ETA: Maybe I should give couscous another try. I'm sure H would eat it even if I didn't.</div>

Ha, OK. I thought maybe he was just weird.
  • I've been obsessed with couscous lately. I love tossing chicken and vegetables in there. It's almost like having chicken fried rice, the taste is so similar.

FI made chicken fettucini tonight. He also made garlic breadsticks with lots of butter. I'm so glad I didn't eat much today.

French toast sounds amazing, and I LOVE biscuits and gravy. I have to be careful with B&G because I could eat three plates of it. Yum.
  • I understand the texture thing, Any. I'm the same way with some foods, although I've gotten A LOT better in the last few years.

Arwo, that's just bizarre. And kind of talented.
  • I know it doesn't really go very far in helping with my nutrient deficiencies, but I have been drinking V8.  Splash, but still I hope it helps a little.
