What color is your dress?

So I finally went dress shopping this weekend and I need to buy my dress ASAP if I don't want to pay the rushing fee... Hum!

I narrow it down to two dresses (similar style/color/etc). They were both in this  Pearl/Champagne/whatever the color was and I think it looked great on my skin tone... But I am not sure I will regret not having a "white/Ivory" dress few years from now.

So because I am nosey and I want to see what most people are doing,  what color are your wedding gowns?

I'm wearing an ivory dress, it looked so much better than white against my skin.  The white was too harsh.

My dress is candlelight, DONT ask me!!LOL.. I tried it on in this color and fell in love, its a cross between an ivory and platinum

Pas if that dressed rocked your world, color doesnt matter, I almost got a champagne dress, but my wedding is outside and the champgane was too dark for the beach, thats the only reason, rather than that I would have been all over the champagne! GL

I did ivory.  It compliments my complexion quite well.  Additionally, it is one of my decor colors for the reception (black ivory crimson).

I'm wearing Ivory.  Like the pps I noticed that a lot of white dress are WHITE and made me look horrible.  Ivory was a lot softer and more complimentary.

mines is white, but its such a dramatic dress that it doesnt need color. I think champange and platnium are beautiful dress colors!

My ceremony gown is ivory; my reception gown is silk satin white (diamond white). I've read many celebrity's regretting wearing colors other than white/ivory the day of their wedding, but if it's the dress/color for you, hey go for it. When I initially started shopping, I put a deposit on a mocha color Maggie Sottero gown, it was beautiful and my mom, sisters, and I loved it. It looked perfect on my skin. Only reason I didn't get it was b/c we had one more store to visit and my mom fell in love with the ceremony dress that I have now. Good luck figuring it out.

Mypasmita, is our information helping you?  I think you should wear what you feel most confident and beautiful in, regardless of color.

    Thanks for your input ladies.

Mandi, It does. I mean I hear what everyone is saying. I was just wondering where every head was when they decided on the color of their dresses and it's good to hear not many people are wearing actual white. So I don't feel {that} odd.

However, I started wondering whether though I may be happy with my choice today, I may cringe or regret not having a "white/ivory" gown 10 years down the line when I look at my pictures than let's say a champagne/pearl/other color gown.

Anyways, I find new ways to drive myself nuts and I find new things to obsess over everyday, so don't mind me.... just feed in my curiosity and let me know your gown colors. Lol!

I think that you will have no regrets as long as you feel that your dress is THE dress for you..

My dress is white. I am lighter-skinned so so ivory and cream shades don't work as well with my skin color like white does. But I agree with PPs, go with what you feel the most comfortable/beautiful in. I don't think you'll regret it when you look at your pictures.

I'm light-skinned but my dress is ivory. The consultants in the shop said white would just make our skin types (Black women in general) look too washed out (she's Hispanic and similar to my complexion). I agreed. White looked just that way and ivory DID look better. But really, it's to you. The color can dictate the colors of your wedding. I tried on a champagne dress (which looked amazing) but chose the style in ivory (which looked just as amazing) because it wouldn't go with my colors.

Well, My ceremony dress is white. For some reason white never washes me out and because I am dark skinned I thought that it would but it really looks good on me. But my reception dress is more of an ivory color. It too looks good against my skin.

Like a few of the pp'rs have said, if you love that champagne colored dress, I say go for it and get it. You really won't be missing anything wearing the white/ivory dress. A lot of people are going with other colors and getting away from the norm. So I say get that dress if you love it girl.

Like KSturgis, I'm going with red for two reasons. 1) FI thinks there is nothing more beautiful than a black woman in a red dress and 2) EVERY FREAKIN' TIME I wear white, I get it really dirty and I'm going to have a month old so I know there will be some stains. lol

Wear whatever makes you feel happy. I tried on white dresses but honestly I felt like I was JUST another bride and I wanted to be different. Red for me!

KSturgis, what does your red dress look like? I'm interested.

My dress is ivory. I refused to wear white because I didn't want a traditional white dress, no hesitation, no questions asked. The only way I would wear white is if it was a very non-traditional style dress. I say whichever color makes you happy, but usually when I have second thoughts about something, I regret it later.
