Meaghan, I've only (only?) been here about 2 years, so you've been here longer than me clearly, but not in my memory. (P&)E always used to be super awesome and snarky.

I mean I think the board is pretty sweet the way it is, otherwise I wouldn't post here.

  • I want to flame Salt for not wanting her pregnancy tests to come from a dollar store.  I mean why wouldn't you trust your future to a $0.99 piece of technology?  On the real, I am scared to just buy generics at the grocery store.

I also wanted to flame the snowflake comment, but when I read it again, I had to giggle and I dropped my flamethrower.  It was a little too Biggie Shorty from Pooty Tang for me.  Baby, I'm going to sine your pitty on the runny kine!

I also want to flame everyone who called Kate numbers b!tchy this week.  I don't think she purported to want to teach the world to sing and then give them a coke and a smile.  She just calls 'em like she sees 'em and I appreciate that.  I do worry that it bothered her though.  I don't always see eye to eye with her but I can appreciate the inner b!tch that makes it way out.

I promise not to beat the P2 thing to death, but she came and was b!tchy; she was welcomed into the arms of the P&E regs and then she mellowed a bit and then, in the words of Elton John, the b!tch was back.  However, she never really changed who she was.  If anything the mellow P2 was more of a "change."

That is it.  Continue with your regular scheduled programming.

Yeah this is the feeling I keep getting. I just want to knowwww what people think was the pinnacle. It is kind of like the last unicorn around here.

It sounds like one of those generational gap things, like "these kids today... it's just not the same as it used to be." ;)

  • I've been here 9 months and I've never seen anyone gush about the awesomeness of E. Well, with the exception of the lovefest threads, but that's mainly about individual posters, and not the board itself. But there's been a lot of griping about how it's changed and it's not as (insert however it was before) as it used to be.

  • For as long as I've been here, no ones ever liked it here.

There are times when I think it's been more boring than others, but overall I've always liked it here.

Obvsies. Or I wouldn't stay. I think it's been picking up lately.

As much as other people want other people to change or think they way they do and it leads to arguments, that's the shiit that keeps people reading.

  • I get the impression that our opinion of Kate doesn't overly bother her, as she doesn't seem the type of person to take internet messages overly seriously.  If it does, however, she should totally post it on KPS because it's apparently the new, hip thing to do.

FWIW, though, I don't think she's bitchy all the time, just lately she's been more bitchy than usual.  Then again, I haven't been around as frequently as in the past, so maybe I'm just missing the threads where she isn't.

I agree with this. I don't post here very often, but I read this board everyday. If it were to become like a local board, I'd leave. But I don't want that to happen because I like this place and all the people here.
Wasn't the Kate bitchy thing last weeks FFF?
    Posted by ricksang
Yes, and it's been brought up in a couple other ones recently.  I acknowledge that I have been more vocal in the last few months, and if that shocked people then well, I guess it did.  If it was just a big change from how I had been, then I guess it all ties into the "aren't people allowed to change without causing a big to-do" question that seems to be plaguing us lately in general.

I don't claim to be sweet and innocent all the time, nor do I think I have only ever had bitchy things to say.  If it matters, life has been interesting lately with FI being away at school, and I had a close friend pass away, but those are things that I don't feel necessary to over-broadcast and receive sympathy for.  Maybe people are right in that if I feel a particular way about something I'm more apt to address it directly instead of saving it for FFF.  I dunno, or people just don't like me which they're free to do too.

I will say that the comments did not cause me to run and cry into my pillow, but some of them did strike me as strange considering a lot of the same things I say are said by other people, or other people have equally "bitchy" things to say when I may not.  I suppose in that regard it affected me and made me evaluate the tone of my responses, but in the scheme of things I'm not going to stop sharing my opinions.  Pay more attention to how constructive they are, sure, which is legitimate, and I have been trying to do that.

I wasn't going to say anything because I don't think it's particularly flameworthy on its own, but since you're wondering what you've done to create this perception:

I'll admit, I was irked that time you tried to "explain" TJ's comments regarding the "liberals are..."/"conservatives are..." KPS to me.  If anyone DOESN'T need a champion, it's TJ.  The woman is articulate enough to frame her own argument, so your championship was unnecessary and really reinforced for me comments I've read in past FFF's about you being the board's self-appointed moderator.
