Massachusetts-Boston

Yay!

FI and I put an offer on a gorgeous little house this weekend, and it got accepted!  We are closing June 4 and getting married June 19, ah!  A little tight, so i may actually see if we can get out of our lease early and move a little sooner.

This house is seriously what we've always talked about getting- an old farmhouse on a ton of land.  We got preapproved on the mortgage, and i'm really hopeful that the inspection will go well.  I keep going over in my mind what could go wrong lol!

Here's a picture of the house:

aww congrats!!!!! Buying a house is SO exciting.

The timeline does sound tight but I have all the faith in the world that if anyone can pull it off you can!

I'm sure the inspection will go well.  I flipped when they did ours so try and remember it's their JOB to find things wrong with it :) -- and you can always use the inspection as leverage to get price off the house, to get repairs done, or money towards those repairs.

    Congrats Lady!!!!

Thanks! It's in Merrimac, it has lots of old details and the original pine floors.  I really hope this works out!  It's our first home purchase, and we've done some research, but I'm still not sure what to expect with closing and finalizing the mortgage.  Wish us luck!

it's scary for the first few months until you get which bills come in when.  But you get the hang of it!

Oh, also, this seems like a "duh" thing to remind you but it's helpful to ask the previous owners for their bills in terms of heating, electrical for the past year or so -- so you can understand what to expect each month.  That helped us with planning!

Congrats, I love the look of that house!! We closed on our first home in North Andover last summer. People decided it was a good time to tell us SO many horror stories about delayed closings, and stuff happening with the inspection, but don't sweat it...the whole process for us was honestly so smooth and easy once we were preapproved. And it's fun to look over the inspection findings afterwards, learn some more stuff about the house!

It's a very exciting time, especially coupled with your wedding! Enjoy it! :)

congrats!  the best news is, if you sign the P&S before the end of the month, you'll probably qualify for the $8500 tax credit!

oh Congrats!!! That is so exciting! :) We are in the process of house hunting (not very good luck, 1 fell through at inspection and the other we got out bid!).  That house is adorable, I LOVE colonials.  Crossing my fingers for a smooth inspection for you!

Hooray for you guys!!!  That is the most adorable house!!!  You can do it!  We bought a house and moved the weekend before we got married (I forget when closing was)- I thought it was a horrible idea at first, but we sucked it up and did it.  I'm so glad we did, it was the absolute best to come home from the honeymoon and just be DONE.  Married, moved in, nothing left but a little unpacking.

Enjoy every minute of it!!!!!!!  Congrats on such a big step!

I actually live in Merrimac now Ekobs! It's a great town -- small, but cute. FI and I bought a condo/townhouse here 2 years ago -- I think the only townhouses in Merrimac. You'll have to let me know what part of town!

    Awwww....congratulations, lady :)

Best moving tip is to start packing now!  hahaha...  It always takes longer than you think, and you want to be fully packed at least a day before moving day (trust me, I've moved like 15 times).

Oh, and get a couple packages of those brown paper lunch bags--they are awesome for wrapping up glassware/kitchen items, & even bathroom stuff--they don't leave newsprint stains and are super cheap (MUCH cheaper than bubble wrap).

    GL with the inspection!
