Are fanny packs ok...

if they look like this?

Because I think this is kinda cute.

Who's here? What are you doing? Post something you're lusting after for fall.

Re: Are fanny packs ok...

  • Dear God no lol... I must say though that I haven't seen anything like that before!

I'm here and just eating breakfast, after sleeping all day. I just need a new fall jacket.

  • Whoa. That's... unfortunate.  Sorry Whit.

Our internet has been out all day and just came back about 30 minutes ago.  It was annoying because this has happened a lot since we moved, but not a biggie because H and I went to Malmo and wandered around and had a late lunch early dinner at an American bar.  Then we came home and read and played games.  It was kind of nice.

  • I wanted to add that I really like your bio. Your pictures came out beautiful

  • Um, no. I didn't think I would ever see fanny packs again. They are so incredibly 80's and so dorky. I think they are easier to snatch than a purse bc I know some people that wore them thought they wouldn't get them stolen, but is all you have to do is unclick the buckle thingy and you have someones belongings.

H and I have been cleaning and organizing a bunch of stuff. And going through more wedding presents that my Mom sent me. Getting ready for church this evening and then probably grab some dinner and chill the rest of the night.
  • Negative. I'm not into fanny packs, at all, ever, under any circumstances. I'm here. FI is playing a computer game and I'm half watching TV and knotting. I want pretty much everything in the J. Crew catalogue I just got, but particularly this:
    http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/sweaters/woolblends/PRDOVR~29186/29186.jsp

It won't let me PIP it, for whatever reason.

  • Ohh, Whit.. No. It looks like half of a skirt that a 4 year old would wear. I wear a fanny pack, for one thing, and one thing only. I work Street Fairs, holding money and stuff, and I can't have a purse, and backpacks take too long when I need to get stuff.. It's the only time I'm ok with fanny packs..

I really want a pair of rain boots. I usually walk / ride my bike to work (2 1/2miles) and when it rains (which is quite often in Fall / Winter) I'm soaked to the bone by the time I get to work.
  • Oooh, and this. Because it's awesome, and I'm a nerd.
  • bahaha. Y'all crack me up. I wouldn't ever buy it, but it's not even a smidge cute? I have horrible taste. I think this is better:

    http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.168410753.jpg

Jadzia, I want a trench like whoa this fall and new knee boots in brown. The trench is always hard because of my height, and the boots are hard because my calves are big but I'm a size 6. And thank you :)

    LC, that's cute!

Ok y'all I'm off to work but will be back shortly!

  • Nope, not even that one. Some of her other bags are cute though!

I just got back from getting my oil changed. My check engine light is on, and I was really hoping that the oil change would fix it, but nope. I have a feeling this is going to get expensive fast Frown
  • No. No no no. I wear one (a lot) while training and will have to sport it during the walk, but I'm not proud of it. I feel like a complete nerd while wearing it. It doesn't matter if it holds all my sh!t and 2 water bottles. I hate it.
  • I love north face jackets! Their sweaters (fleeces) are nice as well.

I love North Face. I have that almost identical jacket, but without a hood, in plum. It's one of my favorite jackets. I also have the Denali in black, but it gets fuzzies on it like crazy so it annoys me.

  • I have a down jacket that I can zip inside, and it rains like mad here in the winter, so I'll need that rainproof outerlayter, and some rain proff boots too.

*sigh*  I'm feeling kind of down and out about the job situation though.  I feel terrible that H has to support me, and I'm just not getting anywhere.  My winter wardrobe is so destroyed- I haven't bought anything for at least 2 years, so it all needs to be replaced, plus the things we both need to have for a winter here. Boo.

Aaaaaaand we need to find new renters for our house.

[QUOTE]No. Fanny packs are back in in NYC, but I'm seeing the leather flat ones or the designer logo ones.  Like this: <a href="http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod37300014&parentId=cat11310731&masterId=cat12310766&index=19&cmCat=cat000000cat000470cat000478cat000504cat5160745cat6170734cat12310766cat11310731&ecid=NMSGHBgucci_fanny_pack_NYC&002=2134545&004=1185260385&005=777428894&006=3151758495&007=Search&008=" rel="nofollow">http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store/catalog/prod.jhtml?itemId=prod37300014&parentId=cat11310731&masterId=cat12310766&index=19&cmCat=cat000000cat000470cat000478cat000504cat5160745cat6170734cat12310766cat11310731&ecid=NMSGHBgucci_fanny_pack_NYC&002=2134545&004=1185260385&005=777428894&006=3151758495&007=Search&008=</a>

  • Jill, you can get it hooked up to those little computer machines at like AutoZone and it'll tell you what error code is popping up. Maybe it won't be anything major? Last time mine did that it was just some blown fuses in the radio!

  • I love that they try to call it something other than a fanny pack. A "waist purse" bwahahaha. I like the print, just not for a fanny. Maybe some shoes? Or a headband? That's about it.

  • whit, you're too funny!

Yes, I have seen fanny packs around the city recently.  Even the designer knock off stands have them.

Honestly, I have only used a fanny pack while skiing.  yeah, before the injury.  They are pretty common on the slopes but not so much off.
  • Our Brit friends always have a laugh when we have mentioned fanny packs because it means something TOOOOOOTALLY different there.
  • Enlighten us Amoro! Don't leave us guessing!

  • Fanny is British slang for vagina.  Soo... you're saying that you're carrying a packed vag. :D
  • sep, exactly! The link TheCranberry posted calls it a belt bag. It's still a dang fanny pack!

oot, I have never used a fanny pack and I have never skiied, so there's that. Me and cold DO NOT get along.

    amoro, that's funny!

  • Soo... would a prostitute be considered a Fanny? :-p

mwhit- I think anyone can pull of the pack as long as they have the right attitude... sooo, maybe it's possible that it can be done without looking like a 70 year old at the zoo or on a vacation.

  • I'll be honest, bags like that are common enough in Europe.  But I can't get over the 80's stigma. :)
