Gifts for shower hosts

Hi!

What are you getting as gifts for the hosts of your bridal shower(s)?

I'm not sure what the norm is.. I think I remember my sister getting me a frame & candle for hosting her baby shower, but I have no idea what to get for my Aunt & FI's Aunts for hosting.

Ideas?
Thank you :)

Re: Gifts for shower hosts

  • So far I'm doing Starbucks giftcards, but I think I'll pick up something else too, I just can't think of what it'll be.

  • I just got them their fav kind of candle.

  • My MOH hosted my first shower and she had just graduated nursing school, so I bought her a gift certificate for a local spa. She deserved some time to be pampered! My Mom is hosting my second shower and I'm not positive yet on what I'll buy. Most likely, it will also be a spa gift certificate because she loves to go for massages and pedicures.

  • FI mom is hosting one and she's a huge coffee drinker so I got her a largemug and some nice ground coffee I knowshe will like. For the other side the hostess is a huge wine drinker so I'm going to do something wine related like charms or a stopper.

  • I have no idea what I'm doing for shower hostesses yet.  I've still got some time (9/16), but it's definitely going to be something to think about.  Can you do a 2-photo picture frame for your aunt, one from when you were younger (with her) and then a space for a pic of you and her at the wedding?  Are either of them wine drinkers?  Or you could get them a spa gift card for a nice treatment.
  • I'm thinking about making cookies in a jar.  I'm having 4 showers and a couple of them are co-hosted.  It's not in the budget to go overboard!

  • I didn't even know you gave gifts to the shower hosts. I don't know who specifically is hosting my shower or when it is. How would this work if it's a surprise??

All of my BMs are hosting one--would their rehearsal dinner gifts count as shower hostess gifts, or should I get them something additional?

FI's sister in law is having another shower at her house, but it sounds like FMIL and 2 FSILs are also involved. Should I get something for everyone, or just the one whose house we'll be at?
  • Great ideas! I love the cookie in a jar - that would be a good gift for the shower that's being hosted by multiple Aunts! thanks!

islandmonkey8 - Maybe after the shower you will have a better idea of who hosted it. Or you could always ask who put it together so that you can give them a card or gift.

aimeek420 - I think you should get them all a little something, even if it's as small as a card, picture of you and each BM framed, or a candle.  I'm sure they'll appreciate it since they will most likely be spending money & time on your shower, too.
Maybe for the one that your FI's sister-in-law is hosting you could get her a gift, then the other helpers something small? Hmm it's hard when there are multiple helper hostesses!

  • For my Mom I purchased her a necklace. I may also buy her a bottle of wine.
For my Aunts- (they are decorating) I am getting them a bracelet and a candle each
For my bridesmaids- I am getting them each a brooch.

  • I've never heard of giving the shower hosts a gift.  Maybe it's a geographical thing?

  • I've never heard of this either. I didn't receive one for hosting my best friend's shower, or my sister's baby shower. Either way my mom and sister are hosting mine and they would kick my tooshy if I got them something.

  • I never knew about this either! Do you give it to them at the shower or send it to them with the thank you card?
  • Don't stress about it! It's not necessary, just a thoughtful gesture.
I just want to get them something because I know they are spending a lot of time/money on these showers, but don't get me wrong I'm not getting anything big!  I'm sure a thank you card would be absolutely acceptable, too.
