We told him almost a year ago about our wedding and with 3 months to go he drops this news...
This has been my church for almost 15 years (he's been at our church for roughly 4 years). I am also a Sunday school volunteer (volunteer my help with the kids when i can)
My fiance isn't the same denomination (he's Baptist and I'm Anglican) but because I have a personal relationship with this church, and wanted be married here he didn't have a problem with having the ceremony there. To incorporate both sides His reverend and my reverend would team up and preside over the ceremony.
This week at THE END of our first counselling session, my reverend broke the news. Our wedding is in 3 months! We've met with him at least 4 times prior about our wedding to discuss other wedding details and no mention of his vacation....he actually told us that he would be on vacation before our wedding. Come to find out he was trying to find a flight back but wasn't able to.
We've made some sacrifices for our ceremony deeming the conservative nature of the church (cant say our own vows, very limited decor options, no photos during the ceremony etc.) But this news is the tipping point.
We can have the ceremony at the reception venue (which my fiance now wants) which logistically may work out but I'm still a bit hurt by what the reverend has done. I understand things happen but why not be transparent and tell us the situation earlier? Now we have to have someone who I am not familiar with perform our wedding....i just feel if that didnt matter, then we should have just eloped and gone somewhere else!
So now I'm at an impasse and not sure what to do!!! Should I stay at the church or have the ceremony at the venue???
