We went to a friend's wedding last night at the Rockleigh CC and I just wanted to give a quick review from a guests point of view.
The place is fantastic!! It is beautiful from the minute you walk in. They are currently doing construction on the road right in front of the venue so it was a little confusing getting in, and there were two weddings and you had to go to valet on different sides of the building depending on which wedding you were atteneding so that was a little confusing, but we found our way to the correct side.
The cocktail hour was excellent, lots of choices to choose from. I especially liked the mashed potato and toppings station. They had a ton of other choices as well and both me and my husband found everything that we tried delicious. The only negative about the cocktail hour is there is not a lot of tables to sit at or even tall tables to stand by, as this was a quite large wedding, so it was very hard to eat while standing, especially while being 9 months pregnant! LOL
At the end of the cocktail hour, my husband and many others were trying to get drinks at the bar, and there was only one bartender left who was quite rude and literally yelled at everyone to go into the reception room that she wasn't serving anyone else for a little bit. Yet, that bar did stay open the rest of the night, I found it a little weird that she would stop serving but that bar was not really closing down. I was a bit taken aback by how rude the bartender was, so we went inside but there was only one other small bar at the complete opposite end of the room that was PACKED. Seems like that could have been a little more organized.
After the intros, the food started being served and everything was delicious! Everyone at our table loved their food from the salad to main course to dessert.
I have to say that I wasn't that impressed with the look of the cake...now I don't know if the Rockleigh did the cake there or if the bride and groom outsourced to a bakery, but it just didn't look as nice as I expected. It was a red velvet cake and tasted delicious but I thought the fondant on the outside was not very polished.
Overall, the Rockleigh was fabulous. With the exception of the one bartender, the service was top notch and the food was excellent. And of course the place is beautiful!
