ushering the moms?

ok-

How are you guys doing the parents entrances? My dad is walking me down the aisle so I need someone to usher my mom. FI parents are married and I had assumed they would have a formal entrance together before my mom was ushered to her seat. However, FI's mom is flipping out a bit. She wants FI to walk her down the aisle or at least another usher.. and have her husband trail behind him. I cannot for the life of me remember how this was at other weddings but I personally think this is weird! am I wrong? Shouldn't his parents walk as a couple? My mom is only in need of an usher since my dad is walking me...

I appreciate the advice! I hate that this is even a concern for us!

I'm probably going to have my sisters soon to be husband (they are getting married next week) usher my mom down the aisle. Do you have anyone like that? Maybe a male cousin you guys are close to?

well my brother is a groomsman so i think I will have him take care of my mom. Its FI's mom that is the problem... I don't get why it wouldnt be her and her husband walking together?!

Does your FI's dad care how he gets down the aisle? I totally forgot about this issue. I was going to have my FI walk his mom down but I didn't even think about how FI's dad would get down. Now this is going to be a discussion I have with him tonight. There are so many weird things that you would never think of that come up during this process, aren't there?

Totally. The thing is, FI wants to just not do it. He said frankly he wants to be able to relax up front and not worry about getting down for his mom and making sure the coordinator times it so I am hidden away etc etc. I think if he DOES do it, he should walk BOTH his parents down with his mom in the middle. Its just all weird to me..

My mother had my brother walk her down the aisle (her choice and it worked for us). MIL and FIL walked down together... I think anything else would have been a bit strange. We had an issue w/ DH's grandparents as his GP - at age 93 - felt uncomfortable making an entrance. So he sat himself when the guests sat down, and the GM got escorted by her grandson (DH's brother). Ah... such little things become such huge issues!

i actually had my mom walk me... so that wasn't something i thought about. and we had his parents walk together. i don't know if i've ever seen it where the parents didn't walk as a couple (if they were still together).

however, IMO, if it's going to be a huge fight (and FIL doesn't care), it might just be worth it to let her have it her way. does your FI have a brother that could usher her instead? it might be worth conceding on this if it will cause a bigger issue than it need to be. however, it is your wedding, so you should be happy. do what you feel is best.

thanks guy. No FI is the only boy and I actually told him I don't care (and vented here)... hes the one that is flat against it. He thinks it'll be weird and his parents are still married and have a great relationship so itll look even weirder...
